I’ve been looking for some this week and there appears to be none. The boots website even says they won’t be getting any further stock. Is there a supply issue?

Yup, Asda and boots by me had lots.

Bar soap also leaves a horrible scum all over the sink if you don't rinse properly. I just have horrible memories of bars of imperial leather in one of those soap dishes, floating in scummy water at my granny's house. Yuck.

EasyTarget · 04/04/2020 00:06

I was just wondering from a virus hygiene perspective if I had missed something. Now I know!

Zacromagnons · 04/04/2020 00:11

I got two bottles of Carex antibacterial, the green one, on Amazon Prime Now yesterday.

BournvilleGreen · 04/04/2020 00:15

Our large Sainsbury's had all the soap/handwash shelves full today.
I even managed to get tampons which se to have been missing for weeks.

ShastaBeast · 04/04/2020 00:22

Haha. My kids were amazed at the “new” soap in the bathroom when I opened a bar of imperial leather. They love it.

We have a dispenser full in the kitchen and a spare bottle. I used the bar so we didn’t run out before stocks were back on the shelves. And to see how it was different to go back to the ‘90s.

BackforGood · 04/04/2020 00:26

Is there a reason people would like liquid hand soap over regular bar soap?

Because it is nicer ?
Potentially more hygienic (in life generally, not just in these times) as no-one before you has been holding it in their hands

I always use bars of soap am confused by the specific need for the liquid version. What am I missing?

Blimey you are easily confused. Have you not heard of personal choice? People having a preference for something ? How do you get through daily life if you find that confusing ? Confused

MigginsMrs · 04/04/2020 00:29

I’ve got bar soaps as well, I quite like them in the shower but for the kitchen and bathroom sinks I like the handwash, if we ran out I’d just use the bars though

EasyTarget · 04/04/2020 00:31

It was a genuine question I was asking in case I had missed some information and should have been using liquid soap instead. I never suggested anyone shouldn't have a personal choice. If you want to take my question in a different way that it was meant I can't change that. Take offence go head, that's your personal choice also. I won't be commenting on this thread any further.

myfav · 04/04/2020 00:33

I got some last week, local shop rather than supermarket.
I buy liquid as the DC seem to make a mess out of bar soap, chunks missing where they've scraped it with their nails. Also seems more hygienic.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 04/04/2020 00:37

Soap's soap. It's self-cleaning. 😉

GlomOfNit · 04/04/2020 00:45

yes, loads in Waitrose today when I ventured out - and there has been on previous visits. The expensive stuff in the 'aspirational toiletries' section. Grin I mean, it's the same stuff, only with a £5.99 price tag.

or you could just get bar soap. Plenty of that out there.

Boireannachlaidir · 04/04/2020 00:59

"Bar" soap or soap as it used to be known is far more environmentally friendly than liquid soap and makes a better job of cleaning your hands. I'd go as far as saying it's these crappy liquid soaps that give people a false sense of security that their hands are clean when most people don't know how to actually wash their hands and don't do it often enough.

Public toilets including those in pubs and restaurants have that crappy foam or liquid that doesn't seem to clean properly.

YourWinter · 04/04/2020 01:07

W8rose have had it in this week, several brands, limited to one per customer.

You know you could pour shampoo or shower gel or bubble bath into your handwash bottle to refill it? You can even use washing up liquid.

unique1986 · 04/04/2020 01:10

I know anti bacterial hand wash liquid is correct.
As opposed to hand wash that doesnt have anti bacterial printed on it.
And liquid which I also prefer still really dries out my hands the more I wash them.

Cheeryandmerry · 04/04/2020 01:10

Don’t use washing up liquid, despite the ads it’s really much harsher on your skin! Use shower gel if you can’t get other liquid soap.

Luckystar777 · 04/04/2020 01:28

No but it's a waste of money anyway.

TheJoyofBeingSingle · 04/04/2020 01:29

Soap's soap. It's self-cleaning

Course it is. Have you never seen a dirty looking cake of soap in a public toilet with a crack down the middle of it that has got black edging to the crack?

Glaceon · 04/04/2020 01:32

Superdrug was well stocked in my area.

Toothsil · 04/04/2020 02:21

Poundland had a few yesterday

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 04/04/2020 08:03

You can use shower gel, looooooads of it in all the shops when everyone was panic buying soap!

Schmoana · 04/04/2020 08:14

Refill your dispenser with bubble bath. It’s cheaper and uses less plastic and soap’s soap.

Freeshavocado · 04/04/2020 08:18

Our local Booths is fully stopped but depends if you are up north or not!

Freeshavocado · 04/04/2020 08:18

Fully stocked *!

PertEllaTitsahoy · 04/04/2020 08:24

Is "liquid soap' actually liquid soap, or just hand cleanser?

Helenluvsrob · 04/04/2020 08:25

Bar soap is obviously just as good / better but you could use shower gel etc in the bottle - just add a bit of water
