Very confused with isolation rules

So DH had symptoms first, followed swiftly by me. I have been self isolating and went out (in the car) for the first time after 8 days of having symptoms. Someone has now told me I should stay in for 14 days. To add to matters a couple of my adult children who stay in the house are starting to show symptoms tonight. Do I need to self isolate again for another 14 days?

yes!!

No. If you have symptoms you need to stay home for 7 days (or maybe longer if you still have symptoms - cough will last for a while so that’s ok but still have temp should stay put). After that you are ok to go out. People in your house should isolated for 14 days or however maybe days it takes to develop symptoms + 7. So if your kids have lost started with symptoms today, it doesn’t matter if they’ve already been home for a while - they now need to stay on for 7 days.

No, you and DH are both out of isolation and those who are showing symptoms need to isolate for 7 days. Anyone in the household who hasn't had symptoms needs to isolate for 14 days after the first symptoms showed.
Isolation only extends past 14 days for anyone who gets symptoms in days 8-13 of their isolation in which case they stay isolated for a further 7 days.

This shows the timelines. Those with symptoms are 7days. Others in family are 14 days. If anyone gets symptoms in that 14 days then that person isolates for 7 days
