I’m scared

There I said..and it feels better to admit it. I’m 39 no underlying conditions, daughter 6 no underlying conditions and husband 46 with asthma. Have been home for two weeks not gone out at all. We both have been working from home. Husband just goes for a run at 6 o’clock.
I’ve been battling a cough and cold/runny nose from last Monday. No fever. I petrified that we will get it and worse that I’ll die. Been worried sick to the point that I cannot eat or sleep.
I’ve been washing the whole house practically and seriously considering cancelling our click and collect grocery for Sunday.
I’ve stopped watching the news and reading about it but even that doesn’t seem to help.

Your doing the right thing staying in. You dont need to clean all the time. Have a nice cuppa and be kind to yourself. Lots of people are scared, but lots of people on here talk a lot of sense. I have found reading on here and trying to stay optimistic has helped me. Its a scary time, but lots of people recover, didnt want to not reply. Hope that helps Flowers

Ps dont cancel yer shopping, just wipe everything down and get rid of as much outer packaging as possible, recycle where applicable.

Thank you for responding. It’s just the anxiety levels have gone up..and I’m not thinking in a rational manner.

I'm the same age and have had similar fears. Do you get health anxiety anyway? I've sometimes become convinced that I have various illnesses, though I can usually put fears aside with the lack of evidence, and if I have a worrisome symptom I get it checked out. This is horrible. I think the likelihood is that if you get this, it will be a mild / normal case, and that you will recover like most do. We have to take the necessary precautions but not waste our lives worrying. Thanks

It's a scary time. Not watching the news is an excellent idea. However if you are battling a cold you need to eat and rest. So get together a light meal then take it to the sofa/bed.

Ranguski · 03/04/2020 22:08

Thank you for the responses.

I do get health anxiety if I’m anxious or panicking about something.

I know we all have to go at some point but I want to see my daughter grow up..😢

I am scared too because if my sn ds gets ill and admitted, it would be the end of himSad

Ranguski · 03/04/2020 23:10

yogalite I understand..do you do yoga? Guessing by your username..I’ve booked into virtual classes in the hope it’ll help. Worth a try?

Or maybe use this platform to speak your mind/how you feel?

I'm scared as well. No one knows how your body will react to it. Could be mild, could be deadly. This is what frightens the life out of me.

Ranguski · 03/04/2020 23:32

Yes..and also ending up in the hospital alone..

But I think we need to fight this and be positive...support each other virtually

I do understand you realise you are being irrational but I thought I would just try and rationalise it. From your age and your lack of underlying conditions even if you do get it then it is extremely unlikely that you would die.

Same with your daughter and even your dh (unless it’s severe asthma) he is not even in the shielded group.

The Media does cover any story about a young person dying a lot because it creates buzz as it’s unusual. It is very rare for someone under 60 with no underlying conditions to even be hospitalised for it let alone die.

YogaLite · 04/04/2020 00:02

@Ranguski, thank u, I used to but drifted off it. Will try to find something online.

Hope we make it through it...

We had to do a click and collect shop today..I’ve been worried sick since we came back. Part of my brain is telling me that I/we have caught it. The other part is asking me to stop being stupid.”
I’ve practically washed all the grocery but still feel worried about the virus surging on surfaces or inside the fridge for days on end..urghh I wish I could just shut my head.

I meant to say ‘the voice in my head’..not sure how to shut my head!
