DH Returning From Abroad

My DH is due to return from Europe where he is working in a couple of weeks.. his company say he can return straight home to me and our children as the government advice is to only isolate if you have symptoms.

I'm concerned that he is rejoining our household with no quarantine period. My employer (NHS) advise he should isolate from us for 14 days on return.

Is there any government advice about this situation? I've looked but can't find anything.. his employer won't support him not returning straight home with specific government advice.

Just seems like such a risk!

I've heard conflicting advice. DH's work colleague had to SI for 2 weeks after returning from Europe, yet someone else I know returned from Europe & didn't have to isolate at all.

Think it's down to the individual company tbh.

So frustrating that there is no clear guidance.. he only gets 2 weeks off before being expected to return to work so we might not see him at all!

As you are NHS, I think it's wise he self isolates from you for 14 days unless you aren't patient facing (you are just doing admin at home). If there is any chance he could infect you and then you could infect one of your vulnerable patients, you just shouldn't be doing it. It's unfortunate, but it sounds like very bad timing. If he is only off for 2 weeks, could he just stay where he is and have some down time before he returns to work?

Sorry should have said I'm not patient facing and am working from home so no risk to patients. Just potential risk for our family. My manager is a senior clinician though and she seemed genuinely concerned. Just so surprised his company won't support him by offering more time at home so we will see him and paying for accomodation for while he SI.
