If you had mild symptoms how long did they last?

I know every body is different but just trying to calm myself down..

DS (3yo) had a fever last week which ended before the weekend. No cough at all. We obviously self isolated since we found out, so no other contact.

4-5 days ago (a couple of days after he got better) I started feeling achy and tired and realised I had a very slightly raised temp - about 37.5.

On day 2-3 I started with a cough, not quite dry but I also have rhinitis so it might be added to whatever this is. Now I still have the cough, the same type of temp (never going above 37.8 apart from once when it went to 38 but went down quickly on its own). I don't even take paracetamol.

I am overall just a bit achy and tired and the cough is obvs annoying but I also have a slightly achy chest too, a weird sensation. Like I need to stretch it a lot?

If you had mild symptoms that sounded like Coronavirus how long did it take for them to go away?
Did your symptoms sound like mine?

I get health anxiety and I worry that my symptoms are just the beginning and it will get worst and I am scared. DH says if fever hasn't appeared yet, chances are I will be fine as symptoms are mild (he is always an optimist Smile)

I'm on day 11. No fever now for two days but I'm so weak I can't manage to do anything out of bed for longer than ten minutes and I'm sleeping at least 16 hours a day. I only had the fever, a slight cough for about the first three days only, sore throat days 7 to 9 and complete loss of sense of smell (which still hasn't come back). At it's worst it wasn't as bad as bad tonsilitis and I could still stagger around and feed cats and myself and I've had no breathing problems.

GreyGardens88 · 03/04/2020 21:01

I've had a tickly throat start last night and now coughing, wondering if this is now the start of it. No other symptoms whatsoever

Taffyapple8 · 03/04/2020 21:10

I'm on day 5. Still spiking a fever but have managed to avoid paracetamol today. In the past couple of hours my taste has virtually dwindled to nothing and sense of smell is very off

Inferiorbeing · 03/04/2020 21:12

DP had mild symptoms on sunday after being exposed at work. He's okay now, shortness of breath when he moves too much but not unmanageable. He is due back on the NHS frontline on monday, confirmed by management today

maybemaybemaybe · 03/04/2020 21:12

@thecatneuterer oh no so sorry you are not feeling well! If the fever is gone though you must be out the other end! That's great news. I hope you have enough support and people bringing you food etc? Would you mind me asking what age bracket are you in? I heard that loosing sense of smell happens a lot to younger people (not sure what that includes - 20s?) i def don't have that (early 40s) but it may be yet to come

@GreyGardens88 I hope it's not that! But isn't it stressful that it's the first thing we all think about at first sign of illness... mine started with aches rather than the cough

I also suffer with health anxiety (quite extreme actually) so I can empathise. Just spent an hour on the phone to my cousin who had it 3 weeks ago and she has managed to calm me,for now...

thecatneuterer · 03/04/2020 21:17

Yes I've managed fine. I already had plenty of cat food, which was the most important!, and plenty of stuff in the freezer and someone left me some vegetables in the porch:) I'm 57, so certainly not young. The loss of smell has been remarkable (and it's got nothing to do with being bunged up as I can breathe through my nose fine). I tested it by holding various things under my nose including cat shit (!), a cloth soaked in bleach, and just sprayed perfume - and I can smell literally nothing (and consequently i can't really taste anything either).

thecatneuterer · 03/04/2020 21:18

I think I lost my sense of smell on day 4.

4forkssake · 03/04/2020 21:22

I've had dry cough, sore throat, headache (but also have sinus pressure problems so might be from that), tiredness & temperature & had them for about 2 weeks. I've still got the cough but it's getting better & my temp ended about 10 days ago.

Changingmyname1234 · 03/04/2020 21:26

My symptoms were quite similar to yours but I had no fever.
Day 1, 2, 3 and 4 were the worst
Day 5, 6 feeling better.
7 pretty much back to normal

legalseagull · 03/04/2020 21:35

Fever, chills, dry cough for a week. It's now been a second week and I'm still coughing lots but I don't feel unwell - it's just a leftover cough which I suspect will last a few weeks.
My baby boy now has it. He's been fighting a fever for three days but again, seems fine. Still eating etc.

CaveyWavey · 03/04/2020 21:41

I think I had this at the end of February. Headache, no fever, body aches, red raw eyes, fatigue, just couldn't keep my eyes open. Didn't think it was the virus at the time as no cough or fever. Husband got it, kids had fatigue. Better after a week then up and down for the next few weeks. Only just felt completely well for the last week. Never felt like I couldn't get through the day just very very tired. I've had pneumonia and it was awful and was very scared of this virus. But I do think I've had it as a friend of mine came back from Austria end of Jan and passed it around our area.

maybemaybemaybe · 03/04/2020 21:46

@thecatneuterer I am actually kinda curious about the loss of smell/taste, it sounds so bizarre. Glad you're doing ok!

@Taffyapple8 isn't health anxiety the worst. It's like getting everything twice. Once for real and once in my head.

@Changingmyname1234 I will be so happy if it's over within 7 days! So happy for you

@legalseagull oh no your poor little one! I was pretty scared when DS had it but like yours, he seemed fine, ate, was himself, and sure enough he was fine within 5 days thankfully. Hope your boy gets well v v soon

Maybe 5 days of aches, sore throat, chills, fever. 2 weeks on still have a cough 😬

LucheroTena · 03/04/2020 21:53

DH had a fever and aches and pains for 2 days, then fine.
A week later I had:
Aches, pains, fever 38c fatigue days 1-2
Bit nauseous, one off loose stool day 2
Shortness of breath when walking up hill or fast day 1 onwards
10 days on I have a very mild cough

Littlepond · 03/04/2020 21:54

I’m on day 13 of symptoms. 1-3 was headache (the worst Ive ever experienced), chills, aches, fatigue. Freezing cold one minute and boiling hot the next. Day 4 I lost smell and taste. Since then I’ve had headache on and off, dry cough, and I’m exhausted all the time. Still no smell or taste at all yet. But I’m doing ok, it’s not too bad. And I’m only guessing it’s CV because of the smell / taste thing. Otherwise it could just be a bad cold/flu 🤷🏼‍♀️

LucheroTena · 03/04/2020 21:55

Ooo I also had dry gritty eyes and lost smell and some loss of taste
And still have a stuffy nose

Ellapaella · 03/04/2020 21:56

I've had symptoms which started with a tight chest, a feeling like breathing in sandpaper. Went on a for a while with no other symptoms (I thought it was a hay fever or an allergy). After 10 days of that I suddenly developed a mild temp - don't know what it was a no thermometer but my cheeks were flushed and I felt a bit shivery. Felt very fatigued and dizzy and had a cracking headache and aching legs, chest felt worse and I started with an intermittent dry cough. Spent two days in bed feeling rough then felt back to normal almost straight away other than my chest still felt a bit tight and scratchy and the mild cough continued.
Finally now my chest feels normal again, three weeks to the day of it all starting.
My husband and his colleague that he shares an office with developed the exact same symptoms a few days after me, my husband had a test (he's a doctor) and tested negative but his colleague tested positive.
My sister also had it quite badly and at one point was taken to hospital with chest pain and breathlessness- her symptoms took just over 3 weeks to go, although she still feels quite tired.

carlywurly · 03/04/2020 22:00

I've had about 4-5 weeks of just feeling slightly off colour. Not taken a painkiller in the whole time, but intermittently had a scratchy throat, tight chest, breathless feeling, swollen glands, fatigue. Temp is highest today so far and only 36.8.

Difficult to know if it's been c19 or an entirely unrelated bug. The chesty feeling is unusual though.

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/04/2020 22:01

16 days so far and counting. I've been pretty sick for a mild case though. Dh has had such minor symptoms we wouldnt have suspected he had it if I'd not clearly got it. His lasted 4 days.

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/04/2020 22:04

Oh and OP the best things you can do to minimise your illness is to rest and drink plenty of fluids. Be very sure to do as little as possible for the next few days yo give your immune system the best chance of fighting it off quickly.

WoollySheep462 · 03/04/2020 22:11

I really do not know if I had it. I had a day of aches, some strange chest pulsations and pains and feeling breathy and I felt SO tired for 3 weeks.

I stayed home and took vitamin D and C every night. I have mild lung disease so if that was it I am relieved. Terrified in case I am speaking too soon though Confused.

maybemaybemaybe · 03/04/2020 22:38

Thank you to everybody who's responding! It makes me feel less alone... it's such a huge variety of symptoms isn't it, very hard to compare... it does sound like it drags on for a bit for most people. At least if the aches and chest stuff go away after the first week, and nothing else happens, I might relax a bit.

@Porcupineinwaiting Its been a busy week but this W/e I plan to just rest and sleep all day (DH will take over with DS). And I am constantly with a herbal tea in my hand. Hopefully all better by Monday, here's hoping

@WoollySheep462 apparently most people get it mild so hopefully that was it for you
Fingers crossed for all of us!

Three weeks for my husband. He was assessed by his doctor (face-to-face) on day 14 and started to to improve two or three days after that. He is still shattered most of the day.

Perhaps not so mild though. Possibly not even CV19.
