What about the very vulnerable customers who used to shop in supermarkets with cash?

Those who are currently shielding, like my Dad.

Used to go to the shop every week and pay with cash and chat to the cashier. Loyally. Every week to the same cashier.

Now can’t get him a delivery slot because his details aren’t registered with the supermarkets and he can’t go to the shops because he is shielding.

Supermarkets emailing their vulnerable customers seem to have forgotten this group of people who don’t use technology. I know they can’t email them and there is no way for them to know they are loyal customers. But why isn’t there a way for them to register their details with the supermarket now?

It seems very unfair that this group of, probably the most vulnerable because they don’t use technology, have been abandoned.

I hear you and I'm sorry for your dad, but that's just the way of the older generation and isn't anybodies fault they are not as computer literate.

Many shielded & vulnerable people are unable to get delivery slots, the demand is far greater than availability unfortunately.

As family members it's up to us to help our vulnerable parents/grandparents and make sure they have everything they need. There are also a lot of volunteers helping people who don't have family available.

It's shit, the whole thing is just shit. None of us saw this coming and we just have to do our best. I have a 3 year old daughter who just can't understand why she is no longer allowed to see her Nanna, play with friends or go to the park. All our lives have changed and we just need to get on with it.

Pick your battles, it's stressful enough right now as it is without worrying about the elderly being left behind by technology.
