What stupidity will Sunday bring?

It's forecast to be sunny and warm over most of the UK on Sunday. Anyone else dreading what some people will decide to do?

Timebean

Absolutely infuriating. I'm stuck inside, forced to watch idiots half the week, then other half i'm caring for the children of keyworkers.

If those idiots could see the effect this situation has had on the poor children, then maybe they'd stay inside. Sad

Lllot5 · 03/04/2020 18:08

Working 😀 only half a day though.
Might hang some washing out. Oh the excitement.
Seriously bit more worried about next weekend it being Easter.

EightNineTen · 03/04/2020 18:10

I think if Sunday sees the stupidity we expect then lockdown measures will be increased for Easter with a lot more enforcement.

I made the mistake of going to ASDA this morning, they had advertised their distancing measures and spacing to queue outside the store so thought it would be safe.

It was packed, no one was regulating how many people entered the store, few people followed the arrows on the floor, even staff weren't adhering. It was awful. I spoke to a lady at customer services (behind a screen) and she said to speak to security, so I did (at a distance) and he replied, "Yeah, yeah." It was as if everyone had got really bored with it all.

I'm someone who was really ill with suspected coronavirus, yet wasn't tested so am in the limbo of partly thinking I'm okay and partly thinking I never had it and am at risk of getting it!

Haffiana · 03/04/2020 18:11

We will all be on MN frothing about what Other People might be doing.

TheHonestTruth100 · 03/04/2020 18:16

Yes I'm concerned about Sunday. In the corona briefing today someone asked if they could for example go out with their family and have a picnic and the answer was a clear no. No one should leave their home for any other reason than to get their once daily bit of exercise or the other stated necessities. I'm very jealous if you're lucky enough to have a garden.

I think Sunday is going to be make or break on whether the government gets harsher with the enforcement. Unfortunately I really think lots of people are going to be stupid and twist the rules.

tentative3 · 03/04/2020 18:21

I feel like there were more people out and about today than previously (I'm a transport key worker!) so I agree with those saying Sunday will be bad. It's infuriating.

bluewafflewithmayo · 03/04/2020 18:23

I’m guessing most of the stupidity will come from the mumsnet pear clutches tbh.

Sanctimoniously scraping mould off some bread while timing their neighbours’ walks.

Samtsirch · 03/04/2020 18:30

@Haffiana
😂 Never a truer word typed😂
I can’t wait, lol.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/04/2020 18:32

It’s forecast to be 11 degrees here so I don’t think it will make any odds. I am in until Monday now, planning long baths, loungewear, face masks, and painting my finger and toenails after a busy week of online teaching. DP will go to the supermarket at some point tomorrow.

Notpanickingjustyet · 03/04/2020 18:32

I plan to tidy and clean the house tomorrow so I can enjoy the garden on Sunday. My husband will be working and I'll be home with DD7
Sunday is Palm Sunday and is normally a happy time in church so I'll miss that. And all of Holy Week in the run up to Easter. I'm just grateful to spend time in the garden. Maybe it'll be paddling pool weather (maybe not!)
Let's hope people are sensible!!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 03/04/2020 18:34

I'm looking forward to a weekend enjoying the garden. Getting more seeds planted, maybe getting the paddling pool out for DS. Just relaxing and not having to juggle working from home and DS :)

Notpanickingjustyet · 03/04/2020 18:34

@Haffiana probably 😂

Userwhatevernumber · 03/04/2020 18:36

I also will miss church activities in the run up to Easter.
Our church has been streaming online services with pre-recorded worship that they recorded some weeks back. Could you have a look for some online services @Notpanickingjustyet?

carly2803 · 03/04/2020 18:36

gardening time! alone!
i wont beleaving the permimeter of my garden, as i havent in weeks

Notpanickingjustyet · 03/04/2020 18:37

@bluewafflewithmayo 😂😂
I'm not sure you intended your post to be funny but it made me laugh!

AvoidingRealHumans · 03/04/2020 18:38

I can't wait to sit in my garden with the sun shining on me and read a book. On a normal 1st warm day of the year we would probably go somewhere for a picnic .

Londongirl88888 · 03/04/2020 18:38

People near me are taking it seriously. Streets are dead. Although police issued a warning due to more traffic. I presume people are mostly food shopping and perhaps running out of pet food etc now (2 weeks in)

I hope people stay in. Police etc will surely patrol the beaches etc,,?

Doesn't even feel like a bank holiday. I can't tell the difference between Monday and Saturday now. I hope to get the paddling pool out tomorrow if it's nice though. Not sure if it's that nice though.

Sadly people will always think they can get away with it.

Notpanickingjustyet · 03/04/2020 18:40

@Userwhatevernumber I'm going to get something online for Sunday. I guess I can 'visit' any church and have a look.
Hope you are able to enjoy Easter Smile

EffOrf · 03/04/2020 18:41

Luckily our painting is on the outbuilding so we shall be in the garden, I also need to put my Patio Magic on the patio and path this weekend, probably Saturday.

putastrawunderbaby · 03/04/2020 18:42

I live in a seaside town that was packed with tourists the same weekend Snowdon etc were rammed. They not only ignored the closed carparks and parked all over grass verges, they blocked lanes and driveways. They crowded the beaches and held bonfires and barbecues. They also emptied our local shops. It took days for us to be able to buy essentials again. The police were out today trying to turn people back but they're heading in anyway on smaller roads and I'm dreading this weekend.

cyclingmad · 03/04/2020 18:42

I walked to my larger Tesco and wow the amount of cars and people, felt like normal.

I'll be sitting in my garden reading a book and going nowhere.

Rockybooboo · 03/04/2020 18:45

I can use my garden but I have friends who live in flats with kids. It must be so hard for them and I can't blame them for going out for walks.

okiedokieme · 03/04/2020 18:45

We might try a bbq - I don't actually see how packing a bag and going for an all day walk along the coast and back across the hills is putting anyone at risk, I rarely see anyone and can keep my distance, no car needed.

Zaphodsotherhead · 03/04/2020 18:45

I am working on Saturday. I forecast HUGE sales of alcohol and barbecue food, but hopefully people will be staying in their own gardens to drink their own bodyweight in beer. I wish they would put a limit on alcohol sales, nobody needs to buy seven bottles of wine and a crate of beer on a daily basis...

I shall be doing my washing and hanging it out in the garden. I might even sit out on my bench and read a book, if it's really nice.
