Eye symptoms?

Has anyone heard of conjunctivitis or styes as a possibly coronavirus symptom? A few friends who have experienced mild symptoms and have self isolated, have also experienced, or a family member has experienced a stye or conjunctivitis.

Oh that's strange!
I have a stye out of nowhere and my eye is sore. I have been pretty much in isolation for 3 weeks as working from home and live rurally. I went to Boots once last week and dh has been shopping weekly in Aldi, with one fuel top up in the garage.

I have no other symptoms

RozHuntleysStump · 03/04/2020 14:43

I’ve read it can be a symptom. I’ve had a sore eye this past week and had to get drops. No other symptoms so probably not The Virus. I think my son might have had it a couple of weeks ago though. He had raised temp, aches and pains etc and a cough but it was productive so... I do t know. Think we’re all a bit paranoid now.

imausernamenotanumber · 03/04/2020 14:47

How odd. We’ve had mild symptoms here and have had contact with a probable case. I’ve had a stye in each eye over the last week or two, first time I’ve had one in years. I’d not made the connection - assumed it was maybe because I’m feeling pretty anxious and stressed. (Like everyone else!)

imausernamenotanumber · 03/04/2020 14:48

Agree with a pp that’s we’re all feeling pretty paranoid, mind you.

nitgel · 03/04/2020 14:58

DH had a couple of styes a few weeks back, never had before.

Thighmageddon · 03/04/2020 15:02

I had a horrendous bout of flu last December and both eyes had rampant conjunctivitis in.

Apparently it's something that can happen in respiratory illnesses.

WorriedMummyNow · 03/04/2020 15:04

Yes, it's a symptom. One sec and I'll see if I can find a link...

Cocolapew · 03/04/2020 15:21

A Pastor in my town has been on a ventilator, thankfully he's home now. He did a video explaining his symptoms and a stye was one of the first ones.

getmetomars · 03/04/2020 15:23

When I had it, it was caused by viral adenovirus

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 03/04/2020 16:13

Oooh

We have all been really ill with classic symptoms.

When the toddler came down with it, his last symptom was conjunctivitis.

I thought that was a bit weird. But perhaps it isn't!

caperplips · 03/04/2020 16:15

I'm feeling a bit worried now
But I feel fine in every other way. Just a sore eye. Which I have never had before.

BanginChoons · 03/04/2020 20:02

I've just come back to this and I was really surprised and interested to read all of your replies.

@WorriedMummyNow thanks for the links, I will go read them now

I panicked as both me and dh have had weird eyes the last week, a cough on and off, and fever for about an hour.
No other symptoms, and tbh we hoped that we have had it and it was mild.
Neither of us have worked in over a month and haven't ventured out except for basic shopping and the odd walk.
