I’m watching him on question time and he looks fairly well for someone who has just got over coronavirus. It begs the question how many of us have had it and it wasn’t very severe?

Perhaps he was treated with chloroquine or remdesivir. There's limited stock but presumably enough for senior members of the cabinet.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 02/04/2020 20:18

I agree, also a bit perturbed about celebrities buying private tests.

CathyandHeathcliff · 02/04/2020 20:21

I still think I may have had it 19 days ago, however I’ve still got a bit of a cough. I haven’t heard him cough once. Maybe he didn’t get the cough side of things.

It's amazing what make-up , adrenaline and ambition can achieve in 45 minutes.

Merename · 02/04/2020 20:23

Oh I clicked on this hoping to discuss that contrived and highly stage managed speech he gave earlier... is it more of the same on question time?

MindyStClaire · 02/04/2020 20:58

Yup. I'm a lecturer with asthma, every cold leads to a cough, and usually a pretty bad one. However, I can rally and give a two hour lecture with barely clearing my throat sometimes. And then collapse in a heap after!

The80sweregreat · 02/04/2020 21:01

I thought he looked ' peaky' as my old mum would have said.
I liked how respectful they were to each other tonight. Made a change from the usual bun fight!

triedandtestedteacher · 02/04/2020 21:03

I think I've had it as much had no sense of smell for two weeks. My other symptoms have been mild so yes he might have had it and be totally fine now

TartanTexan · 02/04/2020 21:10

@DarnedSocks a doctor in New York was saying ‘early intervention’ could make a positive difference. Could that be re: those drugs? And would this explain VIP recovery rate? E.g Prince Charles, Tom Hanks Etc?

MrsAmaro · 02/04/2020 21:15

He is only 41 so no reason to think he would be particularly unwell. I very much doubt he or any other has been given some secret wonder drug.

DarnedSocks · 02/04/2020 23:55

Remdesivir late stage clinical trials have started in the UK. We can't get too excited yet but gives some hope.

@TartanTexan I heard that too. Perhaps it's more relevant to the other potential treatments? Remdesivir is being trialled on moderate to severe patients.

The antimalarials are in short supply globally. There's a need to ensure those prescribed them for other conditions, i.e. lupus, are still able to access them. They're being used in limited circumstances on Covid-19 patients.

@MrsAmaro I don't know if the well-known faces have been given anything but it's not unreasonable to wonder.

MrsAmaro · 03/04/2020 00:11

I didn’t say it was unreasonable to wonder but as I’m working on COVID19 research I am pretty confident they haven’t.

Wingedharpy · 03/04/2020 00:42

How's it going @MrsAmaro?
You can tell us, we won't breathe a word.😉

Thank God for people like you 😊

Ha ha! There is a lot happening and studies are being rushed through. Some are looking at outcomes and patterns in who gets it with sever symptoms. Anyone interested can look up the RECOVERY trial which is a treatment trial looking at adding various drugs. My trust has 10 patients in it so far.
