New phone - non essential?

I’ve just stupidly cracked my Iphone screen and although I can still use it, I don’t have a tablet or laptop so this is my only link with the outside world at the moment. I’m due an upgrade soon so I was thinking I could just pay off whatever is left and then get a new phone delivered. Do people think that’s possible at the moment?

Its definitely possible.

I spoke to EE the other day and they reminded me that my upgrade was due and could post it out.

Personally, a phone is essential for me. I have a work laptop (dont want my bosses to know how long I spend on mumsnet on a night) but no tablet and no house phone.

I would be seriously cut off. Not like you can nip round to your neighbours and use their landline.

If you're due an upgrade soon anyway, sometimes they'll let you do it early without paying off the current contract. It's worth having a look online as sometimes the offers are better there. Or call and ask. You should be able to sort it all without going out.

Actually, I think some way of contacting the outside world is essential. Otherwise how will you pay bills, order shopping if you can get a slot, keep an eye on the news, stay in touch with family and friends?
