How long have you managed to stay inside for. I am lucky I have managed to get food delivered. My DD had a cough originally so we have isolated together, we do exercise inside (keep fit videos together) and I am now working from home. I just wondered how many days others havent stepped outside their door. My DD boyfriend is isolating with us and has only been out to take the bins out and thats it, the 3 of us are all working from home, its become our new normal, I think I have become a recluse as I am finding it OK.

How is everyone else doing?

Since the 17th March here so far. Just another 10/11 weeks to go!

EasyTarget · 02/04/2020 00:04

Snap. I'm just taking each day as it comes. Some days are better than others. On bad days I seem to have the opposite of agoraphobia and suppress the need to bolt outside and run.
Trying to keep busy with a list of interests and using social media to keep in touch.

LovingLola · 02/04/2020 00:07

We are all getting out every day for exercise in daylight.

YahBasic · 02/04/2020 00:08

Walking or running every day, going to the shop once a week.

Amazing that you’ve managed to get food delivered (assuming supermarket?). We’ve not been able to get a slot for weeks.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 00:09

Is it possible to become institutionalised in your own home? I remember a few years ago when I was in hospital for 2 weeks with a broken leg, I missed it when I went home, I think I am odd though, and enjoy my own company but also lucky to have my DD and her BF for company too. I spend a lot of time reading and catching up on things in the flat. If it wasnt for the virus, I would be almost enjoying this enforced time at home.

14th March was my last venture to the shops. I've been self isolating since and am now doing the 12 week thing. I was very excited and relieved to get a Tesco delivery slot earlier on for delivery on Saturday. I went back in afterwards to see if I could get my mum a slot and there was nothing left. At the next check about ten minutes later there was a virtual queue for the site. Crazy. I'm shopping for two households and could only order 80 items. I'll just have to wait and see if I get everything I've ordered or if they cancel the delivery as I've heard that's happened to people.
I'm not too bothered about being in so far but the 12 week thing is taking some adjusting to. Homeschooling is going well so far but god I miss having time to myself to just chill and watch what I want in tv or get on with jobs in peace.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 00:14

I seem to get a food shop every 10 days or so, I dont drive and its a 3 mile walk or public transport to the nearest supermarket so I am lucky I got the slots. I am only buying a normal shop, not bulk buying and I also have meal replacement milk shakes which I can have instead of food if neccessary. I work for the NHS in an admin role and all non-operational staff are working from home now, so the operational staff are able to spread out on our floor as well and social distance themselves.

This is the first experience I have had of working from home, and I feel a lot more productive as I dont have the distractions that I do at work.

If you need a delivery there is a company called Beelivery, they get groceries etc to you within an hour and I found they always seem able to fit you in. Maybe people havent heard of them yet

www.beelivery.com/

In case you wanted to try it, you do pay a little extra for it but I have found it really usefull

Also Sainsburys had about 30 slots when I looked, all for a Sunday so I may have just been lucky I booked it on the Friday before so worth checking as new slots become available at different times

It’s ok. We’re all in this together Star

PumpkinP · 02/04/2020 00:22

What shop is Beelivery coming from? Just checked out their app and it looks good but I ordered from a local corner shop earlier and it cancelled my order so abit skeptical

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 00:25

I think they use various shops depending on your location, they first locate a driver a bit like how they sort out a taxi and they go to a shop, collect your items and delivery them, I ordered some cigarettes (I know not essential and bad for me) and a lighter and got it delivered to me in 30 minutes from making the booking

You can track them too, they give you a pin code to tell the driver and he hands you the bag of whatever you have ordered

Thanks It sounds good, I’ve been looking for an alternative to Tesco’s as although I have a shop the 80 item limit is proving difficult when there is 5 of us.

PointlessUsername · 02/04/2020 00:31

Bit expensive tho 12 pack of Quavers £5.
Good if you really have no other way of getting food.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 00:38

Yes it is expensive and I only use them if I have to but its another option so wanted to share

How are you all entertaining yourselves? I have been mainly playing board games with my DD and her BF, we do our work in the day and then try and do something together in the evening. Tomorrow night we are planning a game of hide and seek with an object and then playing guess the package. Its like going back to the days when you make your own entertainment. I am also keeping busy making a Lego Yoda, which is something I wouldnt have had time for before.

My DS has ordered paint to redecorate his house and his GF wants him to do the garden, put up a fence etc so he is keeping busy too.

If anyone has any fun ideas for entertaining myself and 2 x 20 somethings let me know, in particular games that you have to use your skills to solve.

The prize we are giving is the winner chooses what we are having for dinner :)

I reckon I could have a go at hairdressing too, although I dont think my DD or her BF would be happy with the result! My birthday was last week and my DD bought me lots of pampering gifts so I plan on making everyone wear a face mask this weekend.

One thing about Beelivery that is good, is I can get my degus some food as that isnt sold in normal supermarkets, they have about 2 weeks worth left but who knows how long we will be housebound for.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 02/04/2020 00:52

Is this competitive how long have we stayed in?
If so I fail as I've been to a couple of shops today.
Both within 3 minutes walk.
Did do a couple of days ago too.
(None of us compromised in any way)

BrooksJan · 02/04/2020 00:53

Since 9th March. Auto Immune problem so don't want to risk it. Luckily we have a garden.

TheTeenageYears · 02/04/2020 00:53

If you aren’t already doing so then take Vitamin D supplements.

Daffodil55 · 02/04/2020 00:56

I live alone and have self isolated for 13 days now. Each day I go for a long walk and have called into the supermarket if I really needed to re stock on anything foodwise.

Today I realised that I have never owned a thermometer so was surprised in Asda that the pharmacy had some. Normal temperature so I will check it every day now.

I feel like a zombie though when out walking. Still early days in this long marathon so think it will just become a way of life. I don't dwell too much on the next few months. I daren't.

CatAndHisKit · 02/04/2020 00:57

OP, but why 24 days? you should be well out of quarantine, unless you have an underlying comdition.

CatAndHisKit · 02/04/2020 00:58

Daffodil but that's not self isolation if you go out, OP isnt leaving the flat at all. Waks and shop visits is normal now for anyone who lives alone, you still see/talk to people in shops.

Harakeke · 02/04/2020 00:58

Aren't you allowed to go for walks? I would go stir crazy without fresh air. Staying inside doesn't sound healthy.

PumpkinP · 02/04/2020 01:02

Tbf I dont see the point in going out for walks, obviously I don’t care what others do but for myself I won’t be bothering.

(Beedelivery would come in handy for me even if it is expensive I don’t mind paying extra if the items show up, I personally find the Morrison boxes very expensive for what they are, it’s the convenience you are paying for)

ClientQueen · 02/04/2020 01:07

@Harakeke not if you're shielding, no. I can go in my garden which I'm trying to do but I'm working 9-6 daily so not seeing much sun!
