How long have you managed to stay inside for. I am lucky I have managed to get food delivered. My DD had a cough originally so we have isolated together, we do exercise inside (keep fit videos together) and I am now working from home. I just wondered how many days others havent stepped outside their door. My DD boyfriend is isolating with us and has only been out to take the bins out and thats it, the 3 of us are all working from home, its become our new normal, I think I have become a recluse as I am finding it OK.

How is everyone else doing?

I've gone out every day since lockdown. Can't (can but they won't let us) WFH and have had essential errands to run.

It's pretty weird outside atm.

Daffodil55 · 02/04/2020 01:12

I always use the self service till so not near the check out staff and correct distance always observed. I don't need to talk to anyone in a supermarket which has few customers anywaynow as the rules are so tight about how many they allow in at one time. Once items bought I go straight home and do my disinfecting.

If I had a garden to busy myself in I would not feel the need to go for walks.

browzingss · 02/04/2020 01:18

Laughing at some of the prices on that delivery service! It’s not as bad as my local petrol station on Uber eats, think £4.10 for a pringles tube 😂

SpokeTooSoon · 02/04/2020 01:24

How come it’s ok for the delivery person to risk their health by entering a corner shop (wtf but anyway) but not your good self OP?

Are you about to post that you have underlying health conditions? You’ve posted an awful lot about board games and face masks and hide and seek with your daughter’s boyfriend (again wtf) but nothing about having COPD.

notangelinajolie · 02/04/2020 01:29

12th of March for me. I nearly went out for a walk today but decided against it. I don't mind not going out. Don't work and I can get anything I need delivered. But my DD's would go stir crazy if they couldn't go out at least once a day for something.

All 3 have taken up offering to go to tesco for me or their grandpa and running and going for walks- none of which they have ever felt the need to do before CV. They won't stop going out and spreading CV until we have total lock down. Boris needs to get well and get his act together soon because a lot of people just aren't taking this seriously.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 01:33

No, I dont have underlying health conditions, just paranoia and anxiety. The delivery driver is offering a service and presumably makes money out of any orders he gets, so I dont feel guilty about using it anymore than a delivery driver from Orcado or Tesco.

I have chosen to stay at home, it helps me stay calm and feel safe, whether its the right thing to do I dont know.

So much judgement on MN, the delivery service is offering to do shopping for people, if they don’t want to do it they should close the service. Although must remember that this is MN where they think everyone should live off bread and water. It’s no different to Tesco’s/Sainsbury’s/Asda etc, which many people can’t get slots for. Shock horror I even ordered my kids Easter eggs in my Tesco’s shop Shock didn’t realise we could only buy essentials, who gets to decide what is essential for someone?!

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 01:42

The vitamin D comment is a good point, with lack of daylight its something I will be lacking. Is Vitamin D in any food groups or do you have to take it as a tablet

No no no! According to another poster on a different thread, you’re not supposed to go out for bread because it’s none essential! Naughty.

Mind you, they did mention that you could make it yourself. Great if you have the ingredients. I’ve been out once in, actually I can’t remember how long, because my child has to be shielded. I had a panic attack when I got home. I’m as happy as can be at home, but the thought of mixing with others, makes me feel sick. I’m terrified of brining it home to my daughter. A few of my friends are the same. I don’t know anyone who isn’t taking it seriously.

Before the cease fire in NI, I’ve drive through riots in Belfast, been burned out of my own home, experienced multiple bomb scares, lost friends and families to the troubles and nothing has instilled fear in me like this fucking virus. I’m away off to my happy thread now, because I’m stressing myself.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 01:51

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily I feel the same, being at home makes me feel safe and apart from being overweight and mid fifties I have no health issues, I have just seen too many videos and descriptions of the severe cases and I just want to hide away with my loved ones until its all over

PumpkinP · 02/04/2020 01:54

I would be flamed if MN saw my Tesco’s shopping list 😂 MN is another planet, everyone I know is still shopping the same, I’m still having treats and so are the kids, times are hard enough as it is though some won’t be happy till we all eat gruel. I have seen tea described as essential on another thread yet I don’t like it or drink it, so to me it isn’t.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 02/04/2020 01:56

I’ve noticed that a lot of people have stopped posting on their Facebooks too. I think it’s because there is so much doom and gloom on it and competitive lamenting, that it’s driven them off. I’m sick to the bloody back teeth of getting silly bloody messages and memes about it on all my bloody message aps too. It’s just none stop bombardment of doom, memes and so called jokes about it. Even the jokes are stressing me.

eaglejulesk · 02/04/2020 01:56

I'm going out once a day for a good walk, so haven't stayed in all day once since our lockdown (NZ). Trying to minimise shopping trips though. I would go out for a walk, or two, or three every day before lockdown though, so I would hate to not be able to go out - but if I had to I would cope.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 02/04/2020 02:00

I’ve sent you a PM, OP.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 02:00

Anyone stuggling with sleeping ? I mean I know we are all posting at 2am if from the UK so I guess thats the answer. I dont have a good body clock anymore and keep watching the news, and peeking at MN for updates.

I've been inside since I don't know when. I have to say, I quite like it.

Have you seen this? It's classic.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 02/04/2020 02:01

I’m not even sure what day it is sometimes, never mind what time it is, OP. 😁

Lynda07 · 02/04/2020 02:02

Jenasaurus, I sleep at all sorts of odd times. I quite like that too :-). I'm obviously easily pleased. However I am on my own so can choose what to do and what not to do.

WombOfOnesOwn · 02/04/2020 02:03

We'll have been in for a month as of Saturday. My husband has had to go out when our godforsaken post office wouldn't deliver our mail(!), but the rest of us have been in the house.

I am normally a person who very much likes staying in the house for a long time. I work from home even when there's not a pandemic on, so that hasn't changed much in my routine. The kids are always around anyway, so that hasn't changed much.

I thought I'd really enjoy being "stuck inside" when I'm often only feeling like I go outside out of obligation anyway. For the first 2-3 weeks I really did enjoy it. Now I'd like to go out to a park or a museum or something. In a few weeks I'll probably swear that I want to take up hiking when this is all over, and then do one hike when it's actually all over and remember why I didn't get into hiking in the first place.

Ihavechangedmyname2manytimes · 02/04/2020 02:03

Had to venture out today to buy some food for us and for my mum, who's isolating alone in her own place, as could not get any delivery slots, and felt really strange 'outside' : shaky, dazed and unsure of myself. Only relaxed back at home. It really made me feel uncomfortable. Looks like I have turned into a recluse in 3 weeks.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 02/04/2020 02:08

I think we all need to at least go out into our gardens or onto our balconies, if we have them, or force ourselves to at least step outside our doors or it will become more difficult later. When I suffered from MH problems a few years ago I developed agoraphobia when I started going out again. I have fully recovered but it dawned on me reading this thread, that it’s a very real possibility that long term lockdown may see a big increase in that.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 02:08

love that clip of Reeves and Mortimer, thanks for sharing, made me smile

You don't get vitamin from the sun in the uk over the winter really, but it is going to be rising in availability from sunlight now.

Apparently official govt guidance is that if you are self isolating due to symptoms you can still go out to exercise provided you distance, but not to a shop. I was a bit surprised that is allowed, but apparently it is.

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 02:21

The thing is, if I go out it would be just my luck to meet someone who coughs and splutters all over me, Its like a game of "avoid the human" lol

Jenasaurus · 02/04/2020 02:22

and while I havent got underlying issues, my DD has so I want to stay home with her and keep her safe
