What do you do when you can't get a supermarket delivery slot and you're shielding?

We’ve spoken to small local shop and they deliver food outside with no contact . you could also ask friends to help if have anyone local who goes to a shop

Look for the local help group. Facebook is the easiest way to find this usually. There will be people that can get your shopping and drop to door step.

Get friends and family to go for you.

You can register with Gov.co.uk and get a delivery slot from Sainsbury’s I think.

You find volunteers to help you - covidmutualaid.org/local-groups
to get food that day for the next 2-3 days

You contact your local council who should give you a food box that will last a week.

You also Google suppliers who use to deliver to restaurants, cafes, etc who do online deliveries now to people's houses. Easier if you are in London as you just think of all the wholesale markets.

You see if you can order a Morrisons box - www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/ and keep looking back at the link.

I should add I'm actually shielding and that's what I had to do.

Some taxi services are offering to deliver 'click and collect' orders too, and those are easier to book (around here anyway!).
Obviously that'll cost a bit more, as you're paying a higher rate for the delivery, but you would at least get something.

You can register with Gov.co.uk and get a delivery slot from Sainsbury’s I think. Doesn't work as smoothly as that. If you are already registered as a sainsbury's customer, they are using the government database to see if you are "extremely vulnerable" but I don't know whetehr they have a mechanism for checking newly registered customers.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 01/04/2020 20:43

Thanks everyone. I'll check it all out.

I'm not sure that the supermarkets have been given the database yet so I don't know how Sainsburys are running their list.
All of the above really I'm using Prime Now but it isn't ideal

Log on at aound 11. 45 (for queue) and you should get one. I've got two this way over the past week . One I got for my mum.
