Am I being ridiculous?

So a couple in my street have confirmed Covid-19. They constantly have people dropping groceries or just standing at their garden gate to have a chat - at least 4-5 times a day. I'm high risk and am genuinely worried about even going for my daily walk now, there's no round about way to avoid this couples property. Am I being stupid to be concerned by this?

How close is the gate to the house?

They have confirmed covid but not in hospital?

Ideally they shouldnt be seeing anyone, even at the gate. But people need to drop shopping off.

A bit confused why you think they are risk to you?

I think it depends on whether the visitors are really staying the proper distance away. I agree that they shouldn't be lingering and just chatting.

The couple are coming up to the gate to talk to their visitors and things are being passed between them.
I'm confused as to why they're not in hospital too.
They're posing a risk to the whole street not just myself, I've seen the visitors going to the shop etc straight from seeing them so no chance they've washed hands.

They have probably not been tested but advised by GP that they possibly have Covid-19 -mild infection.
You are perfectly safe as long as you maintain distance and all the advice given out.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 01/04/2020 12:45

I would guess, they think they might have it. They could be right. or they could have one of the many other bugs, that have similar symptoms.

Unless you interact with their visitors though, you should be fine.

willdoitinaminute · 01/04/2020 12:46

Sorry posted too soon most ( 80% + ) cases will recover at home. Only the critically ill who need oxygen support will be admitted to hospital.

oohnicevase · 01/04/2020 12:52

Surely you aren't supposed to go to hospital unless you need a respirator ? If you are well enough to stay at home then you should otherwise you are just spreading unnecessarily.!

anonymum95 · 01/04/2020 12:55

They've had multiple ambulances at their house, I'm only getting information which is being given to my partner from another neighbour. I think I'm maybe just annoyed that these people aren't following the rules.. seeing daily gatherings outside this house is really pissing me off.

Tbh, I wouldn't be thrilled at going to the shop after someone who has knowingly been in contact with sick people and then bringing that shopping into my house. Are you washing your shopping because that will help? It doesn't matter that the neighbors have mild symptoms - the people they pass it onto might not!
