How will this pan out for ‘the vulnerable’?

Just that really.

So they’ve been told to isolate or the very high risk shield for 12 weeks. I guess it could be longer, we all know realistically this will continue for 6 months.

But what happens to them after that? They’re still going to be at risk. Will they need to continue isolation until the vaccine is available?

The advice is shield isolation for a minimum of 12 weeks.

It's quite likely it might be extended

I have 2 “vulnerable” at home, both dc are shielding, they’ve both been told a minimum of 12 weeks, I envisage they/we will be shielding/self isolating until there’s a vaccine or a cure, more likely the vaccine. I did read something that said vaccine possibly by January 21

I’m shield group vulnerable

I expect I will be strictly in isolation for at least 12 weeks, if transmission is under control, then perhaps a few looser weeks (like the current general population rules now during lockdown) and then back to strict isolation if there is a major second wave - which could mean the whole of the 20/21 flu season. I hope by then tests will be available more widely, so if any of us have had it mildly we can know it and rejoin normal life

DH has dug in for the summer, his mum was already dug in as 93 and poorly

My mum is refusing to shield as it's ridiculous (chronic heart failure)

& DD seems to bounce between shield and not shield depending on which list you look at so who knows - but she is quite prepared for the long haul!

& no-one has commented on how people with CFS/FM react so I'm dug in too!!
