Am I selfish?

Our community has really come together to support one another. People are doing things like adding things to their online shops for people. Doing ironing? Going to the post office - supermarkets etc

So far I have called my elderly neighbours and they know I’m here if they need me

I’ve had one on-line order and I didn’t offer my neighbour but have bought for my SIL who is shielded and my elderly in-laws (I did say on the local group that I would want to help more but I have extended family to make myself available for)

We’ve also done one pharmacy trip for my shielding SIL

My eldest DC is not asthmatic but as a child suffered from viral wheeze - they’ve been on and off inhalers (currently off) so we are trying not to do too much for others (outside the family) as we can’t risk covid affecting DC - we’ve even been blue lighted in the past

I am obese and have an auto immune disorder so could be at risk too.

I just feel like others are more helpful.

When I found a veg man I let people know about it and people really appreciates that

I jsut feel like I could be doing more. Especially if I manage another online delivery as I know others are struggling to get online orders.

It's not a competition.

Not saying it is a competition I just I suppose want an idea of what else I can do for the community I live in as people are so very kind

If you think you can do more then do more but there’s nothing wrong with prioritising your own family if that just means staying home and not doing others’ shopping.

The most selfish people are the ones going out when they don’t need to, buying much more than they need etc.

Yes I suppose I just needed someone to tell me it’s ok to look after my own family - but it feels selfish.

My elderly neighbours still have their carers coming for now.
