Weird dreams

Apologies if this has been done already. I checked but couldn’t see it.

How many of you are having really weird, very vivid dreams?

I saw a piece on BBC about the psychology of why it can happen during this type of situation but just wondered how many here are having them too.

Mine are bizarre and I’m not about to describe them, but it’s happening every night now and I’m exhausted. Anyone else?

I had a few weird ones last night yes! Very vivid

Applejaxx · 31/03/2020 13:09

Yes. Over the past week I’ve had really vivid dreams that I’ve moved house, started a new job in a brand new school that’s just opened (and as far as I’m aware doesn’t exist!) and that I went back to a really remote place that I went on a school residential trip to!

Fartintheloft · 31/03/2020 13:19

Me too! Tsunamis and then similar to @Applejaxx kind of ‘new beginnings’ type of dreams. Very vivid though, to the point where I have woken up thinking they are real several times.

@MintyMabel Could you find it again and link it? I would love to read that.

Flaxmeadow · 31/03/2020 13:26

Yes I did 2 or 3 weeks ago. I wouldn't say they were particularly bizarre but had some very vivid dreams. But it seems to have calmed down for now.

I expect it's just the minds way of coping with this day to day stressful situation

MintyMabel · 31/03/2020 14:38

@Fartintheloft

I thought I had read it on the BBC but in googling the main article appears to be a Daily Mail article. Refuse to link to it but if you google Professor Mark Blagrove weird dreams you should find it.

Yes... have had symptoms and high temperature which hasn't helped but assuming anxiety etc is a factor. Have never had so many bad dreams - the worse being that I was looking after a new born for a neighbour and left it in the car! 😭 Very rarely have nightmares as a rule but have noticed this...

Thighmageddon · 31/03/2020 14:43

Vivid dreams bordering on nightmares here, I'm sure it's the anxiety coming out at night because I'm strangely calm in the daytime right now.

Nomorewineever · 31/03/2020 14:44

Gosh yes - awful dream last night that there was a knock on the patio doors and when I opened it in good faith thinking it was one of the DC come round to the back door it was suddenly night time and it was a really nasty menacing person who put their foot in the door and grabbed my collar and I couldn’t get away. It startled me so much I woke up really abruptly. Been playing on my mind all day too.... Confused

passmethewineplease · 31/03/2020 14:46

Yes! Really strange one involving a grandad at school Blush

And another where the school office receptionist was also a drug dealer.

Both very strange.

Thunderpunt · 31/03/2020 14:46

Yes same here, as are both of my kids....

Yes me, in the last couple of weeks. They are very vivid and nightmarish. I'm fine in the daytime, not particularly anxious at all.

Crazydiamond106 · 31/03/2020 15:15

Yep..had a dream my husband was working in Scotland and they were shutting off the borders because of the virus so was one of those stressful trying to get somewhere dreams. They’ve been bizarre all week to be fair!

ILLBESUZIE · 31/03/2020 15:22

Yes! I've started having the strangest stupidest dreams of my life his week

ILLBESUZIE · 31/03/2020 15:24

Last nights dream was a mixture of stealing a close friends guide book of Edinburgh and finding photos of her in it combined with trying to patent a bunk bed design for Guinea Pigs

Stellamboscha · 31/03/2020 15:36

I think I had it in Feb and yes very weird vivid dreams when Xi finally managed to get some sleep between the coughing!

MintyMabel · 31/03/2020 15:53

Loving some of the examples. Still not telling mine 😄

I assume this is an unusual thing for you all? I did occasionally have weird dreams before, but these kind of vivid dreams were once in a while, not every night.

Glad to see some saying it settles down. I hope so!

@ILLBESUZIE

Guinea pig bunk beds? I think you might be on to something there 😀

Yes! I had one the other night where I was stranded in another country along with some other Brits and some Americans and the country made us go on the national news and say we were fine but really we were prisoners. Then they tried to poison us and a couple of us managed to disguise ourselves and get to an airport. Then I woke up. It felt so real though that I was relieved to wake up!

MitziK · 31/03/2020 16:17

I suspect it's partly because a lot of us don't actually have to set an alarm for a particular time and the streets are quieter, so we've actually had a chance to sleep more deeply and wake up naturally.

We probably have equally ridiculous dreams all the time, but we just don't remember them.

WatchingFromTheWings · 31/03/2020 16:25

I had a weird dream last night in which I discovered there was a bungalow in my back garden (there isn't really) and a bunch of menacing teens were partying in it. I drove them home and ended up down a deserted part of town where I was then followed by a policeman who wasn't a real policeman. It proper spooked me out! Not sure what's worse, that dream or the sex dream I had a couple of nights beforehand involving a customer from work. ConfusedBlush

Yes, worryingly I dream I am talking to my deceased father - and in the dream I know he is dead.
