Cold symptoms - what to do

My son is 19 and lost sense of smell and taste nearly a week ago, he’s since had a blocked nose, cough (but not continuous) no temperature, a bit tired but happy to play on his computer and talk to his mates all night
I was wondering if it could be a mild type of coronavirus but it’s so impossible to tell

DH then sneezed constantly all bloody night last night. He’s woken up with a blocked nose but nothing else so far.

Is it possible it’s coronavirus? Should I be sleeping in a different room now? Do we all need to stay in for 14 days now?

So many questions, I don’t know where else to go for advice!

Same here in this house. Mild fever, lots of nasal congestion and some coughing. No idea what it is, but we've been staying in. Even if it isn't, I think it'll make us more susceptible if we do bring the virus home with us? Better safe than sorry, I think.

Good point. We won’t go out and every time a new family member gets symptoms we re start the 14 days 😭
I just wish we could test so that we knew for sure

I know what you mean! A test would be very helpful.

The 14 days doesn’t start again. It’s 7 days from first symptoms for anyone who gets symptoms. But only 14 days from the first member of the household getting symptoms for anyone who doesn’t get symptoms.

I’m so confused! So for my son, his 7 days are up tomorrow. Does that mean he can start going out to get food after tomorrow? He doesn’t have a temperature.
Dh, his symptoms started overnight. So it’s 7 days for him too from today. Is that right?
Or does my son have another seven days to wait?
Sorry!
