Hi all I'm after some advice please. I'm an office manager in a factory and have been furloughed for the foreseeable.

My 2 team members have been told they have to work from the office as there needs to be 2 people at all times. This is not a customer facing role, just telephone and email.

One of my team has young children, and the other has an elderly father with heart problems.

The MD has insisted they cannot work from home, although he has given each a laptop so they can alternate days in the office.

The company don't seem to be taking this virus as seriously as they should in my opinion. They are not replacing the roller towels in the toilets when they run out, there is no antibac wipes available, not even for shop floor workers who are touching machines all day every day. There is no system to clean door handles etc.

My team feel unsafe going into work, and are more than willing to work from home, but are not being allowed.

Can anyone give me any advice please? I really feel I'm letting my team down as being on furlough means I can't have any input into this Sad

TIA

Can you speak to HR? Does the company have a Covid19 policy in place? If not send your manager a link to gov.uk they need to comply

Hi @Ron1984 thank you for the reply. We don't have an HR department, it's outsourced and the only person I can raise this with is the MD himself.
I've not seen the Covid19 policy so unsure if they have one. They are insisting on 2m seperation but this isn't always possible either on the shop floor or in internal meetings. I've advised my team to contact ACAS today.
