Number of shops visited in last couple of weeks?

Out of a matter of interest, how many shops has everyone visited in last couple of weeks. Where they successful trips?

19 March - Tescos - fresh food shop and packets/tins for Mum in case we isolate. She had to take what was going, but gratefully received

26 March - Tescos - fresh food shop, no potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, lemon, limited green veg. Had to share 3 bananas and 3 carrots with Mum
26 March - greengrocers on way back, got Mum's lemon, but no other items

29 March - Lidl - desperate for peppers and tomatoes as we all eat them daily, green veg for Mum. Very successful trip as I got all missing veg and more and some eggs

Hopefully I can leave it until end of week now.

Zero. I'm a general prepper and, as I always book weekly food deliveries as far in advance as possible I still have one left this week .

40somethingJBJ · 30/03/2020 17:47

Zero. I’ve had an Ocado delivery and an Asda delivery in that time, plus a veg box. I’m not planning on setting foot in a shop, or seeing another person, apart from teenage ds who lives with me, and my elderly father with COPD whom I’m delivering food to, unless it’s absolutely unavoidable.

I am getting a bit panicky about the shopping situation though, as I have a physical disability and, if I struggle getting anymore deliveries or click and collects, there’s no way I can stand for long enough to queue to get in a supermarket and the local shops are, from what I’ve heard, pretty low on stock. Cross that bridge when I come to it I suppose!

OH gosh, buckets.

Tesco 2 days ago
Lidl & Sainsb 8 or 9 days ago
DS got a haircut 9d ago
Butcher, chip shop, maybe 9d ago
Post Office & little food shop for lunch foods 11d ago
petrol 12 days ago
DH is going to supermarket a few times a week
We don't have a fridge big enough to store all the milk we get thru in 1 week

MinesaPinot · 30/03/2020 17:52

3 - Nisa for bits, butcher for meat cheese and veg and the bakers. Did them on our walk last Friday but haven't been since. Will need to go to a bigger supermarket some time this week as we will need tinned stuff, hopefully loo rolls, and some bits that our Nisa hasn't got. Will go when we are on our walk.

4 all food shops (as each had different empty shelves) and all before the pubs and restaurants etc were closed which obviously happened before lockdown.

None since then but and it's a big but I have been lucky enough to have gotten an online delivery slot so I have been lucky enough to be able to not leave my house since the Thursday before lockdown.

I couldn't be more grateful for it as i have mobility issues and can't actually do a full shop in an actual physical shop even before all this I had no choice but to get an online delivery if I wanted to run my household and eat.

WobblyAllOver · 30/03/2020 18:14

Zero

I have been out for some exercise but no shops as I have been very fortunate to have booked deliveries for food.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 30/03/2020 18:21

Before the 21st March I hadn't left the house for a week.

21st of March I went to the window of my dogs vets (not inside) to pick up his repeat medicine. Then I went to one stall of our local market, iceland for a couple of small bits and then Asda for a big shop then in a taxi home.

Haven't left the house since.

Online shop coming on the 1st.

IllegalFred · 30/03/2020 18:33

3 trips out

1 pre lockdown - tesco express and wilkos - principally looking for toilet paper but picked up other bits as well, but no toilet paper
1 trip to Tesco express especially for toilet paper, no toilet paper
1 trip to Co Op to look for toilet paper after failing to get any in click and collect order - no toilet paper

Not sure when i'll try again for toilet paper, loathe to queue up to get in somewhere to find there's none. We're both still working full time so limited in when we can visit the shops. Toilet paper has already been restricted to number twos only. We've managed to make a roll last over a week and have one left now

Scarlettpixie · 30/03/2020 18:49

I haven’t been to a shop since 16th march as we have been SI for mos5 of that. I have had 2 tesco deliveries and a takeaway.

Scarlettpixie · 30/03/2020 18:49

Most

EasyTarget · 30/03/2020 18:53

None. Lots of deliveries. But I've been ill though.

HemlockStarglimmer · 30/03/2020 19:19

Last Wed. Mercy dash to pharmacy to pick up a prescription for a neighbour for an acute condition unrelated to the current crisis. Did a small trolley of shopping as I was by the supermarket anyway.

Last Friday. Same pharmacy visited to pick up prescriptions for family members. Went to a different supermarket and was lucky to get some the things the other shop was out of. 🧻

Unless my neighbour needs anything urgently I'm hoping to avoid another shopping trip until the end of the week.

KatherineJaneway · 30/03/2020 23:24

I don't understand why people are doing separate trips for just bread and milk. Just last a couple of days without it, it's not that hard surely

Maybe not for you but not everyone is the same. You've seen here a response that explains why someone might go out for extra supplies.

What do you class as essential?

ViciousJackdaw · 30/03/2020 23:53

Just last a couple of days without it, it's not that hard surely

Are you seriously suggesting that in this time of crisis, the British population goes without a nice cup of tea? For crying out loud, Great Britain relies on tea to keep going and never so more than in a crisis. No, I am not having that. That's a surefire way to send the nation's morale straight down the pan.

Taddda · 31/03/2020 00:10

Zero also, Click and collect last Saturday and enough in to last us for the next two weeks I reckon (cooking larger portions/freezing).

Do need fresh Milk & Bread but was considering using 'milk & more'? If they're still up and running??

bespokepaininthearse · 31/03/2020 00:20

Either myself or my partner has had to go to Tesco multiple times unfortunately, we have been unable to get hold of nappies ok my Tesco order and due to the amount of food missing from the order we have had to go out a few times a few to try and actually get food and stuff for the baby, it's ridiculous really

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 31/03/2020 00:49

Starting to lose count Sad

It has become hard to get hold of the supplies I need to run my business, and between non-availability and the limits on how many items you can buy at once I've found myself going to the supermarkets more often than I'd like to. It's a pain in the arse and massively counterproductive.

Longdistance · 31/03/2020 00:58

I did a Lidl shop on Friday. I hadn’t been shopping two weeks prior to that. Dh has been to the local shop for milk in between. So for him, once a week. It’s a hill walk so his exercise for that day.

Numbness2020 · 31/03/2020 00:59

Asda - DH Saturday before lockdown. Should have avoided it tbh.

Me - Sainsbury’s Monday last week. First thing before work. Started to realise how low stock many other items were.

Last Thursdays - Aldi. Felt really uneasy

DH local Tesco express. Really unhappy about needing to do that.

Now have bread added to milk delivery twice a week ( local company used them for years since they started) plus some other staples.

Hoping to not need to go out again except to work. Planning on doing an order for fresh fruit and veg from local grocer and walking down to collect it in break from work. Need to get a butchers delivery in a week or so.

middleager · 31/03/2020 01:04

Zero.
I hope not to set foot in one or if I do, it will be my local shop for local people. I have an image of the big supermarkets looking like the shopping mall in a George A. Romero film.

The last time I went, nobody was being mindful, a guy was coughing without putting his hand over his mouth and there was nothing on the shelves. Car park rammed.

Inkpaperstars · 31/03/2020 01:13

Once, not me but DP went to Sainsburys at the weekend..very briefly but managed to get enough to tide us over, and bits for relatives nearby who are elderly and isolating.

Trying to get online deliveries for elderly family members who are isolating is proving really hard. I hope they urgently start to get priority slots for elderly up and running, inc if not on shielded list.
