Infection rates slowing?

The Gov's "infection guru" Proff Neil Ferguson just said on R4 that due to the lockdown, the numbers of new hospital admissions in the UK are slowing. Not the numbers of deaths, as these are a couple if weeks behind infection, but felt like a slither of hope to me.

They could well be as we’ve been locked down for a week so less chance for it to spread. No change in deaths yet as you say, due to it not being long enough to see any difference. We’ll see next week how that’s going.

It could well be. I believe it's between 5-14 days after being infected to showing symptoms.

My DP stopped going into the office (in London) about 2 weeks before lockdown as did my friend's DH. I suspect this was happening with a lot of companies.

I went shopping on the Thursday before lockdown to my local shopping centre. It was quieter than usual and people were practicing social distancing.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.
