We both have CV, and are on quarantine. We have very limited food at home. We are running out of hand wash, cleaning product and fresh food. I have been looking online, most supermarkets have slots for vulnerable group but no slot for those who are currently sick and can't leave home.

Does anyone has any suggestions? We are in London

OP, read the guidance and make your decision. A lot of people here have no clue.

So people self isolating can exercise?!

Hotpinkangel19 · 30/03/2020 08:51

Ffs, this is never going to end is it? So people will be going to the shops and exercising with possible COVID-19??? Stupid.

BruceAndNosh · 30/03/2020 08:52

Guidelines say she may go out to collect supplies if staying in is Not possble
Using volunteers delivery or delivery from closed restaurants who are offering this service means it could be possible to stay in. Hopefully all these suggestions will be helpful to OP

swishthecat · 30/03/2020 08:57

If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms that may be caused by coronavirus, then household members must stay at home and not leave your house for 14 days (more information in the ending self-isolation section below). If possible, you should not go out even to buy food or other essentials, other than exercise, and in that case at a safe distance from others. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in your house became ill.

Hotpinkangel19 many of us probably have the virus or have had it and don't even know, as people can be asymptomatic. It is impossible to stop it spreading, and the government knows that. What the aim of all this is to slow the spread, not to stop people getting the virus.

Random18 · 30/03/2020 09:00

Hotpin it is only going to stop with a vaccine.

The govt are not trying to stop it.

People CAN exercise.

Whether someone should be doing so if they are self isolating.

But for some staying indoors for 14 days if they have no outdoor space may be quite detrimental to their health. And dogs need walked.

As long as they socially distance they should not infect anyone.

I personally would not exercise in the 14 days but I have a garden so my choice is a lot easier.

"Local Facebook groups.
Local volunteers.
Local greengrocers who are delivering.
Milkman/woman.
A friend/neighbour.
Local restaurants/pubs which are now delivering."

All the above.
Our local community has been very proactive offering help to those who need it. If you aren't on Facebook then open an account now. You can set your privacy to the highest settings, and no-one needs to know anything about you.

All the local information I have been getting has been through Facebook, with local companies offering deliveries, updates from the council re bin collections, announcements from local shops re opening hours, announcements about how the GP and dental practices are operating, and most of all the fantastically helpful community pages where so many people are offering help.

This is a fantastic resource, and now is not the time to think it isn't for you.

We have also had leaflets through the door with a list of volunteers and phone numbers of people willing to help those in need. Our community are truly pulling together.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I have been trying everything - Tesco, Ocado, amazon, Sainsbury, Morrison (not even for £35 box), Waitrose. No slots available.
I will check uber eats and Iceland. Fortunately, we are ok financially. It's just that it's two of us and both are sick. We have still have some food, don't have hand wash though.

We are NOT going out at all. I have an 83 year old neigbour and I would not want to pass it on to her or anyone. Thank you all for your concerns.

Are you on Facebook?

ineedaholidaynow · 30/03/2020 14:52

Have you looked on Facebook OP? You need to try other shops ways of getting food rather than the large supermarkets.

Don't buy crap like that, if you have mildish symptoms just rest with panadol and Netflix.

JKScot4 · 09/05/2020 21:18

You can be tested without hospital admittance, I know here in Scotland they have drive through testing for essential workers and various other groups, there is one at our local community hospital and at Glasgow Airport.
Updated testing as of 4/5

Mustbetimeforachange · 09/05/2020 21:18

Goodness, let's get this into the clinical trials as soon as possible.

JKScot4 · 09/05/2020 21:20

The update applies to England.^
This is Scotland’s

Mysocalledlifexx · 09/05/2020 21:25

Your doing the right thing not going out, its people like u that are stopping the spreading.
People who have it going out is just so stupid & why so many have died.
Hope u manage to get some help with food

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 09/05/2020 21:26

I'm sorry you're having so much difficulty, OP. Mostly because of initial scarcity of Ocado slots, I have, since lockdown began, had deliveries from:

Coffee bean supplier
Veg box
Pulses and beans suppliers
Cheesemonger
Fishmonger

And could also have ordered deli products and cleaning supplies if I'd needed them. These are all from independent places as opposed to supermarkets - and I can't imagine you have much energy if you're ill. But there are a lot of online places that, even though overwhelmed with new custom, are managing to get deliveries out.

Is there no-one who might offer to do the online legwork for you?

(You may also make some headway with Ocado now, if you're in their delivery area. They seem to be sorting themselves out.)

Summerfalls · 09/05/2020 21:26

Sainsbury have had delivery slots the last few days for the first time in months that aren’t just for vulnerable people, obviously it will be dependant by area, I am in london.

RedRiverShore · 09/05/2020 21:28

We had a leaflet through the door saying to contact the council in an emergency for food and they would put a volunteer in touch

pinkoneblueone · 09/05/2020 21:30

@CtrlU that's because they are testing unless you are admitted to hospital or a key worker

Floralnomad · 09/05/2020 21:30

It may have already been mentioned but Marks and Spencer are doing a deliveroo grocery delivery from some stores , over 100 so bound to be some in London . Also check Tesco one hour delivery slots at odd times , I’m SE and there are usually a few available .

Useruseruserusee · 09/05/2020 21:32

Try Deliveroo if you have it in our area. Our local M&S petrol station (with food area) is now on deliveroo and you can get all the essentials there.

Mustbetimeforachange · 09/05/2020 21:33

The OP was posting on 30 March. I imagine they have some good by now.
