We both have CV, and are on quarantine. We have very limited food at home. We are running out of hand wash, cleaning product and fresh food. I have been looking online, most supermarkets have slots for vulnerable group but no slot for those who are currently sick and can't leave home.

Does anyone has any suggestions? We are in London

Deliveroo - local shops are on there

Scampersaur · 30/03/2020 07:21

Deliveroo has now partnered with some local shops / M&S garages and will deliver from a small choice of food and other essentials.

Brenna24 · 30/03/2020 07:36

You most definitely cannot nip to the shops but be quick. That is how this I spreading. There should be groups of volunteers for your area who will leave shopping at your door for you if you can't find anywhere that will deliver.

Nomaj · 30/03/2020 07:45

I literally can not believe someone thinks nipping out while infected would be ok.

Good grief.

We are going to be so many more deaths than expected if people are doing that.

RedSquirrelMoonlight · 30/03/2020 07:49

Op join your local Corvid Mutual aid group and let them know your situation, they can help: https://covidmutualaid.org/local-groups/

Please do not leave the flat until you have exhausted all other options. Stay safe!

I have seen literature lately too (research article in The Lancet, a well respected medical journal) that says Coronavirus can live in a patient's airways for up to 37 days. If this is true, then the "you'll be ok to go out after 7 days" is woefully underestimated. Perhaps viral load would be a lot less, but still it's a consideration. Not sure why this hasn't been picked up on, especially considering that it was on The Lancet...

LefttoherownDevizes · 30/03/2020 07:53

Where in London op?

cinammonbuns · 30/03/2020 07:56

You have been diagnosed with Covid 19 but not in the hospital? How does that work?

ofwarren · 30/03/2020 08:04

Our local Facebook group have been great. There is a group set up by the church here who will go to the shop for you and you pay over the phone.
I hope you and your husband feel better soon.

BanningTheWordNaice · 30/03/2020 08:09

Fgs to all those snarking about whether the OP has been diagnosed - hardly anyone is being tested. As above, try for a prime now slot, it’s hard to recommend without knowing where you live but around me lots of places are delivering.

littlebitwooway · 30/03/2020 08:12

Foodbank. They said they could send a parcel of food for 3 days on the same day.

littlebitwooway · 30/03/2020 08:15

Good idea-click and collect by taxi.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 30/03/2020 08:15

Have you a local community council? They are helping arrange deliveries in our area along with a FB group.

Please don’t nip out as this is how it’s spread and the door handle you open is then opened by someone’s granny who needs intensive care

Parker231 · 30/03/2020 08:16

Foodbanks are for those with no money to buy their own food and foodbanks are now running low on stocks.

I’d contact a friend or neighbour and ask they leave the shopping bags by your front door. You could transfer the money to their bank account.

BruceAndNosh · 30/03/2020 08:19

Have you guys been tested and diagnosed with corona or you just think you have it ?
I’m just asking as I’ve read so many threads on here recently of people having the virus but not actually being tested

Ffs the guidelines refer to SYMPTOMS not confirmed disease because testing is so limited.
You're implying it's ok to go out. What a Muppet

cinammonbuns · 30/03/2020 08:22

@bruceandnosh how are they implying that op should go out simply by asking if they have been tested? Nobody should be going out if they have had symptoms in the last 14 days but they also shouldn’t claim thy have definitely had it if they haven’t been tested.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 30/03/2020 08:22

my estimate of the average IQ of all mumsnet has been radically reduced reading some of the posts over the last week or so

whatdayisitandotherquestions · 30/03/2020 08:25

Are you in the South East? If so, these guys are delivering.

They usually supply restaurants but are now selling to the public because of the crisis. Brilliant range of fruit veg and herbs plus good selection of cheese and the basics eg milk, eggs etc

whatdayisitandotherquestions · 30/03/2020 08:28

Otherwise join your local Facebook groups to find out who's delivering near you. In my town, local hotels, wholesalers and farm shops are selling to the public and delivering if you're stuck in.

DCITennison · 30/03/2020 08:28

Lots of good advice on here, op. Community support is one of the positives to come out of all this, hopefully there’s groups local to you.

However, if none of the above advice applies or is available in your area then please see through the screeching of some on this thread (and every other bloody thread at the minute). It’s disturbing how fervently some people try to impose their misconceptions on others.

For instance, please see the post by @ShastaBeast at 04.48, and maybe ignore the one immediately after!

Of course it’s best to avoid going to the shop wherever possible during the isolation period, but sometimes, some people, in some circumstances may just have to and I think most people are able to work out how to do that in the least problematic of ways and those people - being as safe as possible and only going out of absolute necessity, should not be shouted down by people too ignorant to even be aware of or understand actual government guidance.

Random18 · 30/03/2020 08:30

So much false advice on this thread and every other thread.

Op if you can find someone else else to get supplies then please do so. As others have said FB has loads of local support groups.

If you are running out of handwash do you have shower gel, shampoo etc you can use?

With regards to cleaning stuff I would just ration as much as you can. Only use 1 surface in kitchen for example so that's the only bit you clean down.

If you have enough food to stop you from starving then you don't need to go out. It doesn't need to be fresh food, just enough to keep you going for a few days.

If you are going to starve then the govt says you can go for food bit to be very careful.
If you have symptoms you only need to self isolate for 7 days.

swishthecat · 30/03/2020 08:36

Honestly, people here really haven't read the guidance. If you have symptoms (rather than have been tested etc) then you should stay at home, but not to the extent that you starve if you have no-one to get supplies in. It's crystal clear.

It is very important that individuals with symptoms that may be due to coronavirus and their household members stay at home. Staying at home will help control the spread of the virus to friends, the wider community, and particularly the most vulnerable.

Those with symptoms and living alone should remain at home for 7 days after the onset of their symptoms (see ending self-isolation below). This will reduce the risk of you infecting others.

If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms that may be caused by coronavirus, then household members must stay at home and not leave your house for 14 days (more information in the ending self-isolation section below). If possible, you should not go out even to buy food or other essentials, other than exercise, and in that case at a safe distance from others. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in your house became ill.

If not possible, then you should do what you can to limit your social contact when you leave the house to get supplies.

Wiltinglillies · 30/03/2020 08:37

I get the feeling that if OP had been in a position to be diagnosed, they would not be at home thinking about ordering food. Anything on the list of symptoms could be Coronavirus and should therefore be treated as such and NO OP must not pop out to the shops.
Facebook has been a godsend during this time. Register with the local mutual aid group, accept the help and you'll be able to help others when you have recovered,
Take care Flowers

swishthecat · 30/03/2020 08:38

It even says you can exercise!

swishthecat · 30/03/2020 08:38

NO OP must not pop out to the shops.

Yes, sge can. The gov allows tthis.
