Wondering if there are any Reception class teachers out there who can reassure me please. Our daughter started Reception in September and it was the making of her. She became more confident and really loved going to school, made so many new friends and was excelling in reading. I'm coping well in general with the current crisis but get really, really sad when I think of her missing school. I know they're all in the same boat, she's young and we should be grateful she's not at a key stage in her education etc, but I worry about the effect missing almost half a year of school will have on her at this age (should the school closures go on until summer). Will the teachers manage to catch them up in Y1? Will this prolonged absence have a longer term impact? We're doing our best to home-school in amongst working from home ourselves, but maybe we're instilling bad habits, showing her the wrong way, not doing enough etc. I'm generally a really rational person but this just makes me feel so sad. Please tell me I'm overthinking it and being silly!
