Hi All, I was just wondering how many of you that have volunteered and successfully registered to be a NHS volunteer have already had your identity verified.

Can you tell me what these volunteer responders are going to do. I asked my local one if she would be given a list of "extremely vulnerable" people and she said not. So how do they know who needs help?

I'm not absolutely sure what they're going to do and how its going to work. when I registered I indicated that I would collect prescriptions and shopping, but there were options to move medical equipment between sites and also patient transport assistants for those being discharged. I think that when its all set up and running we would have to switch our location finder on our phone and also that we are "on duty" and could then pick up an errand from a list near our location.

Thank you robinsinthespring.

I filled in the form and got the initial automated confirmation email, but haven't had anything else back yet. I imagine it will take time to process all the applications though

Yes, up to 7 days. I have been waiting 4 days so far.

I volunteered on the day it was all
announced and got my congratulations on being accepted email last night.

I've loaded up the responder app and done a simulated alert but it didn't really give me much detail on what will happen.

I am hoping that more info will be sent before I go live. One of the emails did say that the volunteering won't be starting until 31 March.

I did notice on the local map that there are quite a few others in my immediate area. ( I mean within a mile of me)

You have to have an enhanced DBS to be used for transporting patients so as I don't I will only be offered the community responder jobs.
