Relaxing classical music

My DH and I are music teachers and we have spent so much time during lockdown relaxing to our favourite classical pieces. I thought it would be nice to have a thread about beautiful classical music to soothe the soul.

I'll start with Respighi The Pines of Rome, Bruckner (strengthening and comforting), Brahms 2, Rimsky Korsakov Scheherazade

Great idea! Chopin's Nocturnes. Mendelssohn violin concerto in E minor. Bach's St Matthew Passion. Arvo Part.

And try this - only just discovered thanks to Profile on R4 this evening - Hania Rani, a young Polish pianist and composer. The full circle from Chopin!

Brahms - German Requiem
Faure - Apres Un Reve
James Whitbourn -Lux in Tenebris
Debussy - Clair de Lune
Vaughn Williams - Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis

and for a laugh, Mozart's Leck mich im Arsch.

No relaxing per se but I heard Smetana's Ma Vlast on the radio earlier and found it extremely moving.

Always love Bach Goldberg Variations, and Cello Suites
