I can't seem to find the answer anywhere so hoping one of you lovely lot may be able to point me in the right direction.
I was made redundant in early March (currently serving my notice period which runs out on 10th April). Literally came about a week or 2 before coronavirus really kicked off here.
My redundancy wasn't due to coronavirus itself but because my company spent all their money (I know!!) however I now cannot find another job because literally nowhere is hiring apart from supermarkets & the hours & flexibility they require me to do just don't work for us. I have 2 very young children so am quite limited to when I can work as my husband earns our main income, however mine is also needed to pay bills etc.... realistically I am going to be in this position until the restrictions are lifted & companies begin hiring again, my kids nursery is closed too so have no childcare.
I asked my company if I could be furloughed then made redundant at the end of the 3 months to buy me more time.
They said it wasn't possible because the initial redundancy wasn't due to coronavirus. Can anyone confirm if this is definitely 100% the case? Coronavirus is definitely stopping me finding something else.
Just trying to make sure I've completely exhausted all my options before we decide what to do next.
Thanks for any help you can give
