Businesses that have adapted well

I always love dealing with a well run business. I enjoy seeing a company that has developed a really good product or delivery method or a great marketing strategy.

Obviously, at the moment even a lot of the good ones are in trouble but there are two locally who have adapted and are offering a great service to the community.

A trade butcher now delivering meat boxes within a 3 mile radius, for a £3 donation to charity. Meat excellent quality and cheaper than the supermarket!

A catering supplier offering veg, fruit and salad boxes plus an essentials box and extras like milk, bread and eggs. Delivered locally for £2 or you can go an collect from their isolated warehouse (as opposed to a busy supermarket). Have to say, they are expensive, £1.50 for sliced bread, but I suppose if the demand is there.

So, I can get all the fresh produce I need without leaving the house, despite not being able to get supermarket delivery slots, I support a couple of local businesses and make a little donation to charity too!

I hope they are successful.

What examples have you seen of businesses adapting well?

Local food wholesalers which usually supplies the catering industry had started selling fruit and veg boxes and home delivering. I rang Monday morning and the box was delivered Wednesday. There was so much fruit and veg, and it also included milk, eggs and a loaf of bread. Absolutely brilliant as I had one delivered to my parents as well, they are self-isolating so it was a huge relief to know they have a decent amount of food in. It will last us two weeks at least!

Butchers in the next village will get meat in if you order and pay over the phone. You have to collect but it's better than going to the supermarket. They have adapted really quickly to the massive increase in demand.

Local shops have been amazing in our village and the neighbouring ones - all have increased their stock hugely so can get pretty much anything there. It can be hit and miss at times but they are all doing a great job.

I will continue to support them all a lot more when life returns to normal. I definitely took the local shops for granted.

The local shops are brilliant and when all this is done I will be supporting them further. I hope we see the rebirth of the local high street.

This week I'm going to look at local milk deliveries, farm shops and the local vineyard who emailed me straight back.
