Can a parent go into the hospital with their child with COVID-19 symptoms

I understand an adult can't have a family member go with them to hospital but can parents go with their children? I read a scary post that was trying to convince people to stay home (as we all should!) that went something along the lines of.. imagine your child having to go in an ambulance and into hospital with people they don't know and you can't go with them... it was actually worse than that but anyway now I'm sort of scared of that happening. Can someone please reassure me that they would allow a parent to go with a child.

I don’t know. This has been on my mind. Ds can’t communicate well, is autistic and has never been away from me. Sad

I can assure you, a child can have one parent with them.

The Facebook page thing is fake, a parent can accompany a child.

chinateapot · 27/03/2020 21:50

Yes they can. Visiting limited to one parent only but they definitely aren’t alone.

That meme doing the rounds is just a stupid thing someone randomly wrote, not actual medical advice. If it's the same one I saw it's clearly fake as it has spelling mistakes and suggests your kid will be "taken away in a van", which makes no sense obviously.

Phew. Thank you!

Yes, definitely. Don’t worry. One parent/ carer per child

Yes of course

I've taken 2 of mine in, 1 parent only any you're met with PPE to put on. Everyone was lovely, calm and kind as always. Good old NHS.

Went in last Friday with son in ambulance. Coronavirus symptoms. That post is utter nonsense, please don’t worry
