Thanks to Mumsnet I just got a click and collect for 8am tomorrow. I have never done it before and I am already anxious about being outside.
Can anyone tell me the procedure?

You drive up, park, open your boot, scan your qr code (or type in your number), the screen shows you your door numbers. They open one at a time to let you get your stuff (take as much as you can in one go because they lock....you can unlock them again at the end though). Load your stuff into the car. You get the option of a survey at the end, you can re open your doors.
Pretty simple, a 5 minute job.

I'm not sure what the first reply is, but at my tesco you drive up and park at the click and collect hut located in the Tesco carpark. A tesco worker will ask your name and give you your shopping in bags. Nothing to sign, keeping 2m distance from Tesco person.

Hippywannabe · 27/03/2020 20:55

Thank you. I looked on google earth and it looks like a smallish hut with a man in. I hope it isn't too complicated, I have gotten into a right old panic about it. Ha, I can face 30 rowdy year 4s without flinching but this has got me tied up in knots, it is the unfamiliar under strange circumstances!

I’m sorry.....I wrote about Asda face palm
Our Tesco is a man in a van. Sorry.

CricketCrocket · 27/03/2020 21:01

For our local one you drive up and tell them your name. They then bring it out and you put it in your boot.

At the moment everything is bagged up for you and they’ve wavered the plastic bag charge - I don’t normally have plastic bags but there’s no choice at the moment as it’s less contact etc.

Hippywannabe · 27/03/2020 21:13

Thank you. Will it be overkill if I keep a scarf around my face when I get out?

No. Perfectly normal round here!

BennyVegas · 27/03/2020 21:43

I've just managed to get a slot too. Our local Tesco doesn't do click and collect but there is one about 4 miles away that does. Interested to see how much of our order will appear.

Scottishgirl85 · 27/03/2020 22:05

You'll be fine. By all means put a scarf over your mouth if it makes you feel better, but it will do absolutely nothing to protect you. Keep your 2 metres distance, don't touch your face and wash hands as soon as you get home.

Mummy2one2016 · 27/03/2020 22:50

So glad I seen this post I've managed to get a slot for Sunday. Fingers crossed most item are available.

BennyVegas · 28/03/2020 15:15

Most of our order was available - only exceptions were toilet paper and some bread products.

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 28/03/2020 15:19

How did you managed get a slot? I've checked several times a day, even the middle of the night for either delivery or click and collect and cant see either at any point for the next two weeks...

Darbs76 · 28/03/2020 15:21

I got one by constantly checking. Depends if people cancel or not

BennyVegas · 28/03/2020 15:33

There must be ones freeing up, as i checked in the week and there were none. Then checked again yesterday evening and there was 1 slot on Saturday and 1 on Sunday

Mummy2one2016 · 28/03/2020 15:54

I read this thread last night so on the of chance checked my local tesco at about 10pm and managed to get a slot for Sunday. Not sure how or why as I had already checked earlier in the day.

user1471530109 · 28/03/2020 16:04

I picked up our click and collect from Tesco this morning (I normally get it delivered)
At our store, you park in a numbered bay then use a touch screen to type your name in and select which bay you're in. I had some gloves to wear as did most of the others there. The couple next to me didn't and didn't seem to get the whole social distancing thing either Hmm.

First time I've been out for two weeks and it was a very odd experience. I surprised myself by being very stressed. The roads were not as quiet as expected and lots of people walking around! People are not taking this as seriously as I hoped Sad.

Fishcakey · 28/03/2020 21:51

I always get delivery and also have my first ever click and collect next week so really nice to read what to do here
