Our local police force has just launched a webform to report any people or businesses you see breaking lockdown.

I'm not sure whether this is because the want to stop people ringing to report breaches (real or perceived) or because they want to encourage more reports. I don't think this is going to end well.

My guess would be it's to free up their phone lines, and it's easier to triage incoming webforms so they can prioritise the 50 person barbecue taking off in the park, and put 'Mr Jones from next door took his dog out twice yesterday' at the bottom of the pile.

To be fair the Met introduced something similar to some care services well over a year ago, services that by nature were regularly having to report mispers etc. It meant that they could indeed triage. It was kept that genuine concern was still to be phones in but the constant general reports that had to be sent in could be triaged more effectively
