Just don’t want Prof. Chris Witty to get it

defthand · 27/03/2020 13:01

I think Witty had it a few weeks back. He had a bra,Ing kind of cough.

I strongly suspect that a large percentage of central government has had or currently has covid-19.

I have been isolating since the end of February, aside from contact with my husband as I am in the extremely vulnerable group (and we had prior knowledge of this). I haven’t been tested as I didn’t need admission to hospital (was taken to A&E, stabilised and discharged to isolate at home), but we are assuming that I have covid-19, infected via my husband who has only very mild symptoms.

Obviously we are now both isolating and he is working from home, but immediately prior to this he was in meetings with various perm secs, ministers, PHE people etc. He hadn’t had contact with anyone outside of Westminster since February (was walking to work, taking food from home etc.), so we can only have caught it from somebody there, and no doubt passed it on to others.

Makes sense that a lot of them will have it after that first health minister got it the other week.

PicsInRed · 27/03/2020 13:31

Here's hoping it really is a mild (in the colloquial sense, not pneumonia treated at home) otherwise we could be looking at a large proportion of our senior government officials out of action within weeks (this based on a longer lead time for the young and healthy to develop severe illness).

Russian ships are presently skirting our waters, said to be taking advantage of the situation, and a navy response is underway, so this really isn't the time.

I was looking at the figures for the number of cases etc a few days ago.
London had way and above more reported cases compared to other areas of the country and looking at the numbers in various districts of London, Westminster was top of the list.
Get well soon to EVERYONE who's contracted this.
