Swapped to a "Friday Big Shop"

To minimise risk and to keep to the rules and all, we are swapping to a Friday Big Shop. It's going to be interesting isn't it. Feel like writing a list is a waste of time and we just need to see what's there and eat that instead.

Dh has gone off to the shops - we are a family of four, so hope the restrictions aren't too narrow!

Good luck! I would have thought going tue/wed or even thu would be better than a friday though! I've found going first thing (avoiding the elderly/NHS hour) my local hasn't been too busy.

I know...it's just not been possible this week with dh job (I'm wfh with the kids). Today's his first day off. Rather him than me!

Things were mostly back to normal when I did mine yesterday. Still no loo roll, pasta or tins but loads of fresh produce, plenty of milk, bread, etc. Very little frozen veg which was annoying but we managed to do a decent full shop.

Do you mean you don't usually do a weekly shop? I always do my shop on a Friday but it's 20 miles to our nearest big supermarket so impossible to go more than once.

The supermarkets round here have everyone queuing practicing social distancing and are only allowing a certain amount in at a time so your DH should hopefully be ok.

Well, um, yes.

No, we don't. We do a weekend shop on the way home from work on a Friday then a click and collect for on the way home Monday teatime.

I cba usually to a full weekly shop as (1) knackered from work and (2) I find stuff just doesn't always last.

Obviously we are changing that with what's going on.

We have 5 supermarkets within a mile radius of our house.

I always do my big shop on Friday. I was thinking of mixing it up next week and going on Monday. Got to take the excitement when you can get it in these turbulent times.

Ah ok that's a good idea, I can see how that would work well.

I had my food shop delivered this morning and there was only a couple of things not available. One of them being mini eggs which was very disappointing Grin

Choccyp1g · 27/03/2020 12:05

i suspect all the mini-eggs have been substituted for real eggs!

I've decided to go midweek instead now I'm not working in the hope of seeing less people. I went yesterday, still no eggs/pasta/loo roll/tinned tomatoes or beans but plenty of everything else.
