Grocery delivery slots

Sorry if this has been done before, but I can't seem to find a thread. I am looking for any advice or tips on how to get a grocery delivery slot from any of the supermarkets. I am a semi-regular Ocado shopper (usually 1-2 shops per month) plus occasionally shop online with all of the other supermarkets, so I have accounts with all of them. I had 2 Ocado slots already booked, the last one of these arrived on Tuesday. I have been trying for nearly 2 weeks to book a new Ocado slot and this week started trying the other supermarkets too. I am spending a huge amount of time in queues but whenever I get on their are never any slots available. We can manage for another week or so, so I know we aren't as desperate as some, but I just can't see how I will ever get a slot. I feel like I am missing something. Is there a particular time of day that slots get released? How is anyone else managing?
As a household we are self-isolating as my youngest daughter is vulnerable (not on shielding list but higher risk group) - I really didn't want to risk going to the supermarket. We get a weekly veg box and for now that is continuing as normal, but at some point we will need to shop for basics. There are 6 of us too and now we're all at home the food just seems to fly out of the cupboards.
Any advice much appreciated.

I believe if you contact Sainsbury's to explain the situation, you can get a slot with them as they are prioritising vulnerable & elderly.

If you go onto their site as if you were doing a home delivery, it brings up a gov.uk link for you to register.

Asda seems to be the best in my area (Manchester). They put slots up at random times, you just have to keep looking at the delivery slots.

I found my mum one (immune suppressed) at 2am when I was looking, for next week. There were quite a few up at that time, nothing by 9am.

Do you have an Ocado Anytime SmartPass begun prior to the start of this year? If so you’ll be receiving an email about specific slots.

Tesco had slots available this morning - but I’m reading that they don’t have all the stock people would want.

It does look as if in another week’s time things will have been adjusted and you should be able to find available slots.

There have been threads ... Grin The Ocado Queue thread has just closed because it reached 1000 posts. But you’ve probably been busy.

Thanks all - I guess it's a case of carry on trying...more hours waiting in virtual queues!
I don't have a smart pass anymore sadly (stopped it as I always seemed to go for the free evening delivery slots anyway) so I guess we won't get anywhere with Ocado.
I will try the Sainsbury's link though - thank you.

You need to just keep checking. Sainsbury's put on some slots for tomorrow and Sunday this morning. So maybe supermarkets are putting them on last minute. Obviously availability will depend on postcode etc

AlunWynsKnee · 27/03/2020 09:45

MsSquiz Sainsbury's are only prioritising those who have the government text and the number to ring for other vulnerable people (on the original list released last Monday) isn't being answered.

Batqueen · 27/03/2020 09:46

Sainsbury’s are only prioritising the shielding group now. After that delivery pass customers. Better to try local butchers, bakers, farm shops etc

Just keep checking, Asda are also the best in my area. Randomly checked one evening after not being able to get through for a week and there were two slots available for ten days time. We've got a toddler with asthma whose been admitted to hospital multiple times with respiratory infections, so I definitely don't want to risk going to the supermarket.

I have been paying for an Ocado midweek delivery smart pass and have a disabled daughter (not that they would know that). It will be interesting to see if I receive an email.

I’m quite peeved off having read a few times that people that have only recently registered have managed to get delivery slots but those pay8 g for smart passes have not.
