soupforbrains · 27/03/2020 00:30

Can actually not roll my eyes hard enough. Stop being a sensationalist fuckwit.

Isawthathaggis · 27/03/2020 00:33

What a bother. Can you not just write down what it says OP?

The government have been planning for flu pandemics for years Confused.

soupforbrains · 27/03/2020 00:33

It’s an Asian drama series. At that point a character gets sick with a flu like series. 🙄🙄🙄

Foghead · 27/03/2020 00:37

Watch this. Do you think Bill was in on it too?

Isawthathaggis · 27/03/2020 00:39

I have notice on my daily walk the increasing thick smell of hash and conspiracy theories Grin

What is wrong with all of you. Why have you got to be rude. There is no need for it.
I'm just sharing something that might be if interest considering it came out in 2018.
Bearing in mind they never had a name for the virus until we caught it!!

OP posts:
BecauseReasons · 27/03/2020 00:54

Why don't you tell us what you think is suspicious about it, OP? I'm not subscribing to Netflix for the sake of this thread.

jadey0885 · 27/03/2020 01:00

Basically its a film based in China and there are cases of coronavirus but they don't want anyone to know about it.. bearing in mind this was made in 2018.

Biscuit
soupforbrains · 27/03/2020 01:02

They aren’t cases of corona virus. Is a respiratory illness based on the SARS outbreak.

Have you watched Black Mirror OP? Or even the Simpsons?

Because if you think this is foreshadowing you would have a field day about an the things those shows have ‘predicted’

Orange89 · 27/03/2020 01:02

I think OP was trying to show people that the Chinese 'knew' about this two years ago.

It does make you wonder .. conspiracy theories and all that and the symptoms are the same (attacks the lungs) in the doc. Although I think Coronavirus is a more widely term used for viruses like SARS etc which could make it seem like they got it spot on (predicted / planned it). Who knows . I'm open to theories Hmm

Orange89 · 27/03/2020 01:05

I'm more concerned about people calling Bill Gates Saturn . I like to think he's in our sideGrin

jadey0885 · 27/03/2020 01:05

Yes I've watched many things. I watched contagion today. Did you?
What did you get from that?

I'm no conspiracy theorist. I'm just observe

Probably more likely to be based on / inspired by SARS-COV-1 outbreak in 2003 (which was initially downplayed by the Chinese government), than the film industry secretly reporting on future events through the medium of Netflix, don't you think?

Orange89 · 27/03/2020 01:08

Or if you read the book written by Dean Koontz in the 1980s that's a bit more bizarre

Orange89 · 27/03/2020 01:10

As long as it's not bill gates I'm fine. I like him lol

Monty27 · 27/03/2020 01:11

What utter tripe OP. This is from wikipedia:

Human coronaviruses were first discovered in the late 1960s.[8] The earliest ones discovered were an infectious bronchitis virus in chickens and two in human patients with the common cold (later named human coronavirus 229E and human coronavirus OC43).[9] Other members of this family have since been identified, including SARS-CoV in 2003, HCoV NL63 in 2004, HKU1 in 2005, MERS-CoV in 2012, and SARS-CoV-2 (formerly known as 2019-nCoV) in 2019. Most of these have involved serious respiratory tract infections.

soupforbrains · 27/03/2020 01:15

@Monty27 Grin

MiniEggs234 · 27/03/2020 01:18

Coronaviruses are one of many types of virus. They include many illnesses like SARS and some common colds. COVID-19 is the disease name for another coronavirus. It's just frequently being referred to as 'coronavirus' as it took a while for scientists to give it a name. If that programme from 2018 is talking about 'coronavirus' it's simply talking about a virus that is one of many in the coronavirus family.

Monty27 · 27/03/2020 01:19

Just when you need an Einstein in the house Grin

TanteRose · 27/03/2020 01:24

corona means crown (due to the shape of the virus) - the name has been around for 50 years

BecauseReasons · 27/03/2020 01:31

I agree with PP. SARS was a coronavirus that causes severe problems with breathing and the lungs in general. And the Chinese government tried to cover it up.

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/global/commentisfree/2020/jan/23/china-coronavirus-sars-cover-up-beijing-disease-dissent

I think the show just took inspiration from history, as others have said.
