Obsessing about symptoms

Is anyone else obsessed with thinking they have symptoms?

A close family member is in the highly vulnerable group and I'm counting down the days until it has been 2 weeks since I was saw them.

So far this week I've thought I have:
Achy legs - realised I've been doing the Joe Wicks workout and I never usual exercise that much.
Shortness of breath - I'm thinking it's anxiety.
Cold hands and feel - I've opened all the windows today so the house is generally cold.

I can't stop these thoughts from going round.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this!

I could’ve written this post myself.

It’s two weeks today since I went to a hospital appointment with my little girl and I’m paranoid I’ve got it.
Constantly looking out for symptoms and checking my temperature.

I have had a sore throat since November. Had camera down to check all was ok in February and it was. Every night I lie here convincing myself it's corona. The panic is causing headaches and general aches and pains. Convinced I am going to die and leave my two sons without their mam Confused

Thank you for your replies. It's horrible!

I've had mild cold symptoms this week and have convinced myself it could be CV even though sneezing isn't a symptom. I'm not high risk but I have a vulnerable older DM to look after and afraid of getting it and passing it to her.

Yes, I think many people are. I felt a bit more tired than usual, only slightly though and I’ve got a cough which I’m convinced is actually anxiety as I’m constantly thinking about coughing!
Staying in and hoping for the best

Yes me too. I have in the past had CBT for anxiety so I am trying to use those techniques to stop myself. I now only read Coronavirus news first thing in the morning as at first I was constantly checking for updates.
I keep myself occupied, cooking, watching box sets (currently Friends), playing computer game with my son (World of Warcraft), cleaning etc, because again, when I am doing nothing my thoughts go back to that slight tickle in my throat or wondering why I just coughed. If you let yourself "jump on the worry train" it really does run away with you.

I am looking forward to the clocks changing because the lighter evenings will make me feel more positive.

Yes, I've been getting some chest sensations lately and keep wondering if that's it. A kind of "spreading" feeling in the chest like something is settling there and flicking sensations. Breathing a little more shallow but then I wonder if it's underlying anxiety or something. Coughing every now and then but not persistently. The chest stuff seemed to ease off last night as I read a book.

I started with a cough on Monday. Just a cough, no other symptoms at all! Yesterday was the worst day for coughing. It’s not a dry cough, though, and I have only felt it in my throat. It mostly clears when I get up and moving, but starts again when I’m sat down. No trouble breathing whatsoever, which a lot of posters on here have reported!

Anyone else had this? If it weren’t for CV, I’d find this cough a mere annoyance.

LoseLooseLucy · 27/03/2020 09:19

I do. I've had a cough for around 3 months anyway, but I keep waking up with a dry throat and feeling hot and convincing myself it's the start of it.

Realitea · 31/03/2020 16:19

Is sneezing definitely not a sign? I’ve quarantined half my family due to their constant sneezing and blocked noses!

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 31/03/2020 16:24

Yes, I've felt shit for days. Tired, achy and a slight sore throat. I'm pretty sure it's just because I'm run down and not sleeping properly.

I don't really think I've got the virus, but I thought not rushing around so much would make me well-rested - it's been the opposite. Grin

I know three people in their twenties and thirties who think that they have had Covid-19. The symptoms seemed to be quite definite: a fever, chest pains and a persistent, dry cough. It does not come with a cold. Lots of us have had a dry cough over the last few weeks, but I think it is the fever that makes Covid-19 distinguishable. These people were not hospitalised and did not report it, as they felt it was manageable.

covetingthepreciousthings · 31/03/2020 17:16

Yes I feel the same. I'm counting down two weeks till I was last in work then I'll feel better. Every day though, I keep feeling like I'm getting ill, but I think it's honestly just my brain and anxiety being sky high. Sad

It's really draining, and I am trying to limit my intake of news.
