When will this be over?

I know no one here can answer that. But the thought of months maybe years like this is stressing me out to the point of immense anxiety. Feels as if we are in a dystopian nightmare.

Even if lockdown works, and cases are down, let's say they somehow eradicate it from Uk. They will go straight back up again once someone flies in to the UK who is infected and spreads it.

The government won't be able to help people financially forever. I'm terrified about what the future holds.

I think it’s going to be a bumpy 18 months or so until we hopefully get a vaccine with some periods of semi normality and lockdown when cases peak in between.

HoffiCoffi13 · 26/03/2020 21:02

As above. There will be a few periods of semi normality and a few periods of tighter restrictions over the next 18 months or so id guess. Basically until people have immunity either through having already had it, or through a vaccine.
Potentially earlier if an existing medication/anti virals are found to be effective in curing it, but no guarantees on that front.

HoffiCoffi13 · 26/03/2020 21:04

Oh and theres absolutely no expectations or plans to eradicate it completely... it’s not possible. All the measures introduced have the aim of spacing out the cases to ensure that the NHS can cope with demand.

And where do people think we’ll be twelve weeks from now?

Honestly? Just tentatively emerging from a lockdown.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 26/03/2020 21:09

You have to remember that work is being done on a vaccine by many countries. Also China are saying a particular arthritis drug has led to people recovering. These things will be tested.

We just need to delay the impact on the population so that the NHS isn't overwhelmed by it and we have time for vaccines and treatments to be developed. It may be contained sooner than anticipated.

HoffiCoffi13 · 26/03/2020 21:11

In 12 weeks I think restrictions will be just starting to be lifted. We’ll then have a period of semi normality until another peak hits and we’ll have another lock down, although probably not as restrictive as this one.

OP I am feeling the exact same. I wish there could be an end in sight.
