DP and I opened the door to clap...
And heard our neighbours and our neighbours' neighbours and their neighbours clap.

It was lovely to hear so much appreciation for our health and care workers...

i didnt think anyone would here but they were...quite loud

my dd is frontline nhs but she had to run down the street to retrieve the pup who escaped when we opened the door!!

PhysaliaPhysalis · 26/03/2020 20:07

Same here! Clapping and whooping - and fireworks! It was genuinely lovely.

user1493413286 · 26/03/2020 20:08

Lots round ours did it; was lovely when we’re all having to keep apart to feel brought together

Chattercino · 26/03/2020 20:09

It was very emotional. The whole road were clapping here and waving at one another.

pooiepooie25 · 26/03/2020 20:09

Same here!

RandomMess · 26/03/2020 20:10

We live on a hill above a city the noise was amazing, satellite station glowing in the sky, dog too knackered from all the walks to complain.

Thank you all key workers and especially the frontline staff 💕

Sux2buthen · 26/03/2020 20:11

Yes it was lovely

TheoriginalLEM · 26/03/2020 20:11

I hope they heard us Grin

Whatusernamecanihave · 26/03/2020 20:12

So lovely ❤ such a fab idea

Rainbowunicat · 26/03/2020 20:13

I was so surprised, I thought we were all too British. We could hear it echoing all around. Very emotional.

mousekey · 26/03/2020 20:15

Same! It was absolutely lovely - my partner teared up. We didn't expect to hear much, but we heard LOADS of people from our back garden, clapping, cheering, car horns - even fireworks in the distance. Really lovely.

SteakFrites · 26/03/2020 20:16

It was wonderful. I’m a cold bitch and thought it was a cringey idea but went out because the kids wanted to. Our whole road (usually slightly frosty Londoners) cane out and clapped, cheered, whistled. It was lovely. I felt quite tearful.

Wineislifex · 26/03/2020 20:17

I didn’t expect to hear much but it was so loud! Thankyou everyone from a very emotional nhs nurse Flowers

PNDventing · 26/03/2020 20:18

Fireworks in our village - woke the baby up and my frontline NHS worker DH is less than impressed. Clapping would have been nice but fireworks and drums is way ott.

Helenj1977 · 26/03/2020 20:18

Amazing! We should do it every week x

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/03/2020 20:20

I thought it was going to be a bit of a cringe fest, but actually made me feel a bit emotional. Was nice to hear all the noise of the neighbours coming together to clap and cheer.

I know it doesn't really make a difference to what they are facing, but I guess it just shows some kind of solidarity as a community.

VEGAS2016 · 26/03/2020 20:20

Very emotional for me as a nurse in the NHS. Thank you everyone!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 26/03/2020 20:20

Feel a bit choked up - amazing!

tinseltitsandlittlegits · 26/03/2020 20:22

Very emotional and lovely to see so many join in x

Janemarpling · 26/03/2020 20:23

Same here. So lovely

ElfrideSwancourt · 26/03/2020 20:28

It was really lovely - and lovely to see other people after a week of isolation 😊👏

3catsandcounting · 26/03/2020 20:47

I'm in a tiny village. Not a peep!
I clapped, with a glass of wine in hand.

littlebitwooway · 26/03/2020 20:54

It was lovely. Be great if they get all the ppe they need and a payrise after this is over too.

teenagetantrums · 26/03/2020 20:57

I thought no one would do it. Thought bit a bit cringy. However there was clapping and cheering and fireworks from our local closed down holiday park. Was nice

cactus2020 · 26/03/2020 21:16

I was in an online group chat where a friend said it was pathetic and pointless. I went out and couldn't disagree more. Really moving, solidarity, appreciation. I think it's valuable and important
