www.gov.uk/government/publications/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others

Coronavirus guidance from gov.uk now says:

Stay at home:
Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)
Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
Wash your hands as soon as you get home

I was going out once a day for a walk. Now that’s stopped too.

Oh, when did that change? What are 'health reasons' though? Surely exercise is for 'health reasons'?

myrtleWilson · 26/03/2020 14:36

the document hasn't changed -they've just summarised it

MrsSnitchnose · 26/03/2020 14:36

If you read the actual PDF, exercise is still on there

maslinpan · 26/03/2020 14:36

There was a full thread on this yesterday! Read the full guidance and it is completely clear that you are allowed one form of exercise a day.

thatgingergirl · 26/03/2020 14:37

If you click on the actual guidance document, it still says exercise is allowed.

@thecatneuterer

That’s what my partner said too. I’m going to try and find a FAQ on gov.uk

As far as I can see, that is Monday’s announcement and exercise is fine.
Read the more detailed stuff beneath the top part. Open the document.

IrisAtwood · 26/03/2020 14:38

Wow. That is a relief! I’m going to read full document now.

If you click on the document it says:

You should only leave the house for one of four reasons:

  • shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
  • one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.
  • any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
  • travelling to and from work, but only where you cannot work from home.
Mummiepig · 26/03/2020 14:38

It says with immediate effect, but it hasn’t been publicised yet has it? I missed the news at lunch time
I hope it’s not changed 😭

thatgingergirl · 26/03/2020 14:38

Oh, sorry - crossed with others. Made me think how many times I tell DH to read more than headlines!

Umpteen · 26/03/2020 14:39

It’s Monday’s announcement. It isn’t new.

Chemenger · 26/03/2020 14:39

Click on the link on the page you have linked to and you will see that exercise is still allowed.

dementedpixie · 26/03/2020 14:39

Plus it's from 23rd march

Mummiepig · 26/03/2020 14:40

Oh thanks for clarifying, I didn’t click on the pdf
