I'd like to order some crafty things or jigsaws but not sure if I should just make do. It's not an essential.

We're taking the opportunity to use up all the crap we've accumulated.
Rediscover long lost toys, play games that generally only come out at Christmas etc.

Why not- deliveries are still going, at the moment. And you won’t be out yourself.

They won’t be delivering non essentials as quickly, I think, but no reason you cannot order. If they can’t or won’t deliver for some reason, they will tell you.

If you can order from independent businesses instead, please do. They need the support more than ever. Amazon will weather this storm easily but small businesses are struggling.

I’ve orders some work books for dd from them which I consider essential while schools are closed

I won’t be doing as feel for all those warehouse workers who are still having to pack and pick these non essential items.

DrawMeARainbow · 25/03/2020 19:23

I've read about poor treatment of their workers etc- wouldn't want to be part of a problem ordering too much. I'd actually really like to order from independents but no independent stores round here have an internet presence.

Workbooks are different... I'm looking for pipe cleaners and googly eyes Grin

The more the deliveries the drivers have to do the bigger the risk for them

bevelino · 25/03/2020 19:25

Yes because it helps traders stay in business.

I’ve ordered some puzzles from an independent company. Amazon was sold out but glad to be supporting a smaller business. It was dispatched the next day.Shock I’m presuming a small business will be quite solitary too.

I think Amazon for all their faults have a big role to play. They have the networks and are switching a lot of capacity to essentials. I would buy non essentials still online.
