How is your homeschooling going? - Secondary Y8 Ds here, this is hard and I worry I’ll be letting his education down.

I can help with English, Dp can help with History, Geography and Science (to a degree) but maths I’m hopeless!

Ds is using the school’s online facility and Corbett maths (fab as the answers are there) but he asked me for help today on a maths question and I couldn’t help him

Please tell me it’s not just me.

We’re both helpless at Maths

The online work was put up last minute in a rush with the sole intention to keep the kids ticking over and reinforce what students have already learnt.

He won't be behind as the GCSE courses are freestanding and whilst Ks3 builds the foundation which makes it easier to grasp new knowledge if you already have a good understanding, all necessary content will be retaught.

Khan academy is brilliant for maths and is free. It is American so some methods are slightly different but it is brilliant nonetheless.

BBC bitesize is also a really good tool for all subject areas.

Over the next week or so schools will be able to organise it more etc as we all get our head around this new way of learning.

Whilst it is important to do some homelearning and keep to a routine know that no teachers want parents or students to feel stressed about it. The world is stressful enough as it is at the moment.

MN loves a maths question. I bet you’ll find someone that could help.

I’ll check out the Khan Academy and I’ll ask in here although will probably be at my lack of knowledge!
