Would you self-isolate for this?

Chills, really sore throat, body aches?

No temperature or cough or difficulty breathing.

I'm aware it's not one of the two symptoms we should be self-isolating for and I keep telling myself that obviously other illnesses are still going around and this is likely one of them. But I'm a key worker (obviously not one with a medical background!) and I don't want to find out in a few days that I've been spreading it around. I've fell down a bit of a google hole in the past hour and it seems like anything can be a covid-19 symptom if you look hard enough!

Hi, I'm in Ireland and today the criteria for being referred for a Corona virus test changed to become more narrow. Now you have to have a fever and one of 2 other symptoms, cough or shortness of breath. This was because 94% of tests completed were negative and the system is swamped. So by that criteria it seems unlikely!

Whilst I agree that is not one of the key symptoms they are symptoms and sound very similar to what I had just over 2 weeks ago, I started with sore throat for 2 days and then felt terrible for about 3 with gradual chest tightening over those days then the cough and temperature came for about 4 days. The day after sore throat I was with my mum and dad and DH for the day. They all woke up with a cough and temp on the same day 10 days later x

fluffdeloop · 25/03/2020 17:04

how many days have you felt like that are these relatively new? this is how confirmed covid started in my sisters case the cough didnt come til a few days later, so I would say yes treat it as possible.

OutComeTheWolves · 25/03/2020 17:25

The sore throat started yesterday, but really mild. Like I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been looking for it. Then about midday today for the rest. I'm usually so decisive about these things and my work usually has the 'if you can work you should' mentality, but today I've swung from thinking I'm being ridiculous to thinking I definitely should self-isolate.

I suppose the answer might be to call in sick just saying I'm ill and then see how it pans out over the next few days. Dh won't need to be popping out anywhere so we'll effectively be self isolating anyway. I wish they'd just hurry up with the mass testing.

Aren't we all self-isolating now?

sageandroses · 25/03/2020 17:36

I meant - apart from work if not WFH and essential shop trips. Missed that you're a key worker, sorry!

Heres a link to 111 on line- you have to answer a few questions online and it recommends what you need to do.

it's ok @sageandroses. I'd be happier if I didn't have a work shift this week then I could just stay in anyway.

Cough and fever are not always present. I think you should isolate for the seven days. But do the online thing see what it recommends.
