Why is Prince Charles allowed to isolate

At his holiday home in the Highlands? Grin

If he was there already, hadn't we been asked not to do that?

I do wish him well but come on, one rule for one.....

OP posts:

Heir to the throne and all that. Plus, the Cambridges just decamped to their second home in Norfolk. There will be a load of special people allowed special treatment.

lubeybooby · 25/03/2020 11:14

he's been there since well before the lockdown

m00rfarm · 25/03/2020 11:19

They always split up the royal family in times of crisis to ensure continuity should anything happens.

Lumene · 25/03/2020 11:20

Why was he tested?

If he needs a ventilator will he get one over someone else who would normally be prioritised?

Mintjulia · 25/03/2020 11:23

He was tested because he was in contact with prince of Monaco who has tested positive, because he is over 70 and therefore vulnerable and because he’s heir to the throne.

They will need to keep Queenie, Charles and William separate for obvious reasons.

PetrifiedPusscat · 25/03/2020 11:25

He doesn't need to worry, I bet he has a ventilator on standby, while we plebs have to face being seriously ill with no medical care.

alittleprivacy · 25/03/2020 11:26

If he needs a ventilator will he get one over someone else who would normally be prioritised?

Do you really think that they don't all have their own medical teams and ventilators ready and waiting for them?

BMW6 · 25/03/2020 11:47

He was already there before the lockdown OP, so he did exactly what was asked and stayed where he was!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 25/03/2020 11:48

He has followed the rules. And he is heir to the throne.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 25/03/2020 11:52

Even if they did have a ventilator on standby that doesn't mean that PC would survive the virus. Others who have been on them have died. There is no cure for Coronavirus. He will be taking his chances with the rest of those afflicted by it.

Blewbell · 25/03/2020 11:57

He was there before lockdown and actually did follow the advice. Mind you just like with companies, countries have "key workers" who are treated differently because frankly they are more important and integral to the businesses performance. Senior management can't fly on the same plane flight for example.

thefairyfellersmasterstroke · 25/03/2020 11:57

He has followed the rules. And he is heir to the throne.

He has not followed the rules. People were told not to travel to holiday or second homes, but to stay put. He ignored this and brought the virus to a rural area with limited resources. God help the Ballater folk if he or his minions spread the virus to their wee town. Bet Charles won't use his massive personal wealth or private healthcare team to help them.

Heir to the throne has fuck all to do with it. If anything he should be the good example, not flaunting his privilege. He needs to fuck off back to London and look the East End in the face, or something. At least his granny didn't run away.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 12:00

He has followed the rules, he went to his second home prior to the rules being issued.

Joans3rddaughter · 25/03/2020 12:00

Why was Camilla tested? No symptoms. Not a hospital inpatient?

Chinks123 · 25/03/2020 12:01

Are people missing the bit where it says he was already there before lockdown? So he’s done as he’s been asked and stayed where he is.
He’s over 70, and has been in contact with someone infected, him being heir to the throne is irrelevant.

LovingLola · 25/03/2020 12:04

When did W and K run away to Amner Hall?

shufflestep · 25/03/2020 13:08

I would assume that for all of them it's a case of following government instructions - any civil unrest is more likely in London, not having the royals there will take away one extra issue for police there. Moving the Queen and Prince Philip to Windsor last week I think was a deliberate move before lock-down - separate the Queen and her two immediate heirs, to split the risk if there is a cluster of infections.

Elizadoeslittle19 · 25/03/2020 13:21

The Queen, Charles and William will all be separated, I believe they all retreated to their homes before the lockdown. I don't think any of them actually consider London as their home.. that's where they work. Charles and Camilla will have been tested due to being in contact with the Queen, I suspect she has also been tested, and depending on when he was last in contact with William he may have been tested too.

daisypond · 25/03/2020 13:24

Of course W and K live in London. Their children go to school here.

Lynda07 · 25/03/2020 14:12

I can't say I'd ever considered Birkhall to be Prince Charles's 'holiday home'; the Prince is a rich man and has more than one home, that happens to be one of them. Of course he can be there, why not? He'll be able to self isolate easily enough, won't be wandering around villages and towns meeting people. I expect the place is fairly self sufficient for food, he'll have a minimum of staff and he won't be breathing on or handling them.

Sounds sensible for him to stay put for however long recommended. Coming back to London wouldn't be wise.

If the Prince or his wife become severely ill and need more care, he is quite able to turn a couple of rooms into a temporary hospital. The Royal family used to do that.

The advice against people going to their holiday homes is because they cannot go on holiday! It's to prevent people who might go into shops and restaurants or beach cafes, from stretching local resources and possibly spreading infection. If they do as Prince Charles is doing (though he went there before the restrictions were put in place), no problem.

Atleastthedoglovesme · 25/03/2020 14:13

It not like he's going to put a strain on the local
GP or NHS hospital in this area though is he?

pippong · 25/03/2020 14:15

I hate the royal family.

That is all.

mrshoho · 25/03/2020 14:30

Does that mean he will have to put his own toothpaste on his toothbrush for a while? Or have his servants been given PPE wo wear?

daisypond · 25/03/2020 14:33

But PC being there does stretch local resources. Where is the food coming from? He’s also now exposed the virus to all the staff there.

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 14:34

I don’t know why he should get a test. We had to pull together I thought.
