I have an apt for a mammogram next week. Do u think it will still go ahead? I'm hoping it does but afraid it will be cancelled. I haven't heard anything from the hospital

My mum had an outpatient appt today at the hospital. I was adamant she should not attend. Her gp said she should and I phoned the hospital to check and there was a recorded message stating that all out patient appointments would go ahead as normal. So we went and it was quiet with appts going ahead, but social distancing measures in place.
We are in the south west.

Ring up

My local hospital has cancelled all routine screening, and will send out new appointments idc

I emailed about my mammogram, due this week, and they replied that they were cancelling routine appointments until later in the year.

I’m in the Northwest, I had an appointment this week as I’m having investigation following an abnormality on my initial mammogram ( very likely to be benign but had a core biopsy that was inconclusive so is being repeated). Radiographer said they were suspending the routine screening mammograms but for now still seeing people who had been recalled already for follow on care.

Isadora2007 · 25/03/2020 23:35

My mammogram was cancelled. If it is a routine or yearly one it would likely be cancelled. If it’s to check due to suspicious symptoms or lump then no it won’t likely be.

Toybox88 · 04/04/2020 23:10

It is to check on suspicious symptoms and it has been cancelled. They phoned me last week.
I phoned my gp who will refer me to another hospital if I can find one that's still doing them. I'll phone around. I don't want to survive the pandemic to come out with stage 4 cancer!

Hi Toybox88 hope you're OK. Depending on where you live, maybe you could try the larger cancer specialist hospitals e.g the Royal Marsden. Maybe they are business as usual throughout the pandemic? Good luck.
