Using Microwave reduces Internet Speed?

I am struggling to understand this.

I thought a microwave oven operated in a shielded box? Can someone explain this to me

I have noticed that watching catch up on the TV is affected by the microwave.

they operate on the same frequency so yes it does interrupt it

you can sometimes change your router to a higher frequency - can't remmeber the ins and outs but it is google-able

So microwaves do leak out of the box?
