Childcare question

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this please. Husband, son (who is 1) and I all started self isolation yesterday as son started with a continuous cough. After the 2 weeks is over, I will have to go back to work (I work in veterinary so cannot work from home - although it is still a very grey area as to whether we are key workers or not). My husband has been working from home since last week and will continue to for as long as necessary - he works in waste and is therefore a key worker. My dad (under 70, no underlying health conditions) usually looks after our son while I am at work as I only work part time. My question is, after our 2 week isolation period when I have to go back to work, would my dad be allowed to come and provide childcare for us under the conditions of lockdown? My husband's boss has said that if he needed to take time off to look after our son that it would be unpaid (which we really can't afford), but he would really struggle to work from home while looking after him as he's so young. Thank you!

No you can’t go to other people’s homes.

Posted to soon unless you caring for a vulnerable person.

Key workers are allowed to travel to drop their kids off at childcare. And nannies are being allowed to travel to do their childcare in their employer’s homes. So presumably your childcarer (your dad) would be allowed to come to look after him at your home. But it is still spreading some degree of risk, especially if your dad is seeing other people.

@mswales Sorry to butt in! How do you know about the nanny thing? We've been whatsapping our nanny not sure what to do! Thank you. X
