If you had arranged to give birth at this hospital what would you do? What do you think of this policy?

Healthy baby + healthy Mom is the desired outcome; having people/candles/whale music is superfluous so in times such as these it’s understandable

Sometimes fathers have to stay at home with siblings or are not able to be at the birth. The baby doesn’t care (my DH missed our third baby’s birth as he didn’t get there in time. Made no difference whatsoever)

I think it is understandable but really scary too. I think giving birth is frankly terrifying so I feel so sorry for anyone who doesn't get the choice to have someone with them but I do understand the stakes, these are exceptional times. When I had DC1 I had an emergency c-section and my son was rushed straight to NICU, my husband went with him, while I was still in theatre, it would have been awful to have had to let him go alone, I hadn't even held him. Also I needed my husband to help me get showered, and get from the ward to NICU etc. I can't imagine having to have been alone :(
