What will happen in 6 months time?

Once we have squashed this first wave of infection, what will be put in place over the following 12-24 months, if anything, to prevent a series of further waves hitting in future? (ie prior to roll-out of a vaccine, which might take 18 months but also might never happen.)

Will countries obtain and then try to maintain Coronavirus-free status? Will travel between certified C-free countries be possible? What about travel to/from countries without that status, how will that be dealt with? Rigorous testing plus mandatory quarantine?

I think that will really depend on how successfully the lockdowns work, and how well countries come out of them. It will be really interesting to see how China does, whether infections start increasing again, or whether they can get a handle on it.

Also it will depend on how many people catch it first time round, and if they stay immune for a long period of time. If the antibody test indicates that loads of people had it without really noticing, that will have a big impact.
There's also the possibility of a treatment. For example if they discover a drug that really minimises deaths and serious complications.
I don't think it's possible to predict yet what any measures might be.
