My partner lives 60 miles away, and he is now self isolating for 3 weeks, not seeing anyone and his work have closed only today. I am thinking of going to stay with him this Thursday but worried encase you aren't actually allowed out on the roads?

Does it sound silly? Or shall I stay put where I am?

Would you drive an hour and a half to see him and then stay with him for the full 3 weeks? We won't be socialising. It's just the essential food shop... I am confused ? Has anyone else got any stories like this?

No, the rules are clear, you stay home. Unless you were together at the same time yesterday when the Government implemented the lock down, they you have to stay apart until it is over.

I wouldn’t.

It is not essential travel - this is why we will end up with even stricter controls because so many people think they don’t have to stay home.

Jenny Harries said today, decide where you want to be, in regards to boyfriends and girlfriends. Once you are there - stay there.

Advice today is either stay separate or move in together for the duration but don’t move between houses.

That all makes sense thank you.

If you want to go, go now and don't come back until the lock down is over. How long that will be is anybodies guess.

NameChangedMarch · 24/03/2020 18:30

@MoltonSilver it's so so scary... I am able to work from home at his and would be staying for the duration of the lockdown.

I very much doubt if it will be only three weeks. You have to ask yourself if it the right place for you to base yourself for three months - and also, particularly if you are moving from a 'hotspot' to a less hot spot in particular, you will bring it to that area and there is a high chance you will infect key workers such as supermarket staff and their relatives.

I would not personally want to be stuck away form home like that - and your insurnace company might take a dim view as well: mine has a time limit for the house being unoccupied (sorry can't remember what it is).

You risk bringing it to that area, I meant to write
