Help! Just got home from a shift, key worker but not NHS/education to find DH has had a letter to say he has been identified as extremely vulnerable. I'm really confused now if I can go to work or not? If I go, he will be at home looking after our children.

Can you stay somewhere else? Or isolate yourself from the family at home?

Depends how critical your job is.

Is it in any way feasible for you to stay elsewhere temporarily? It would be good if there was a government intimated scheme for keyworkers with vulnerable household members to be put up in the now empty hotels.

If you can't stay somewhere else can you sleep in a separate room even if on a sofa? Change your clothes when you get in, use separate crockery and cutlery, spend as little time with him as possible, once or twice a day disinfect shared surfaces including bannisters, light switches, door handles, kitchen and bathroom taps and surfaces, loo seat. Thank you for doing what you do. I'm very grateful to all keyworkers.

Depends what your job is. If for example you’re a lawyer, just stay off work - society will survive without you! Had you been an ITU worker (and I see you’re not NHS), it might be different.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/03/2020 18:15

What is your job?

sproutsarenotjustforchristmas · 24/03/2020 18:16

Society can def survive without me! Can't stay anywhere else. Even if I follow all guidelines about staying away, from him, what about the DC's?! I can't stay away from them for 12 weeks! And he's meant to stay 2 metres away from them too so how does that work!? I'm very confused!

Financial sector. Classed as key worker but pretty much an admin role and loads of us doing it so won't be missed

It’s going to be very difficult for you and the DC to stay 2m away from him so the best you can do is make sure you and they stay home as much as is humanly possible. Good luck Flowers

I'd all stay at home in that case.
